Haha . Don’t pump rocks through the pump.
Make sure you run the UHMW at least 1/2 way up the bow as this area takes a beating pulling into shore.
Have seen some that don’t hardly come up off the bottom .

Get a new stainless or steel impeller and sharpen that baby up for a spare. be sure to check front wear ring to shoulder clearance with new one. .0025" is usually safe on stainless

Stainless will last you a looong time if you keep the gravel out of it. and NEVER stomp your grate with the motor running... bump the starter with the ignition off a couple times if possible. Boatins pricey but you cant take $$ with ya when you die anyways! but you'll still have the memories in the hole lol

That kills performance. Funny you could even get on step ?

My rpms were high. That hole in the stator was completely plugged. Anyways. Put a stainless B impeller back on. I don’t think there is much hope for this aluminum one. IMG_7874.jpg IMG_7878.jpg

What’s your grate look like?
That’s a big rock to get through ? Maybe bars are further apart then I am used to .

My grate looks great. I have absolutely no idea how it got in there. It was wedged in with other smaller rocks too. There was no water going thru that passage. I had to spend some serious time getting those out.

Maybe was in when you bought it ? Lol

I mean, I’m not going to lie. I’ve been in the gravel. But I know enough to shut my engine off before I hit the grate. But that thought has crossed my mind.

I do have a question. Everyone I’ve talked to including jetcraft has told me to go to an A impeller. Can I still do that on a B series pump do you know?

No problem at all unless I am missing something.
The one you have could have been a A and just cut to a B.

If you stomp your grate in to shallow of water I would think it’s possible to scoop up some gravel. Or like said it was in there when you bought it. You will know next time out it might be a totally different boat!

AA, A ,B, etc... are all just cuts of an Impeller. there are charts for diameters. As you step down, your max RPM goes up. I'll find a chart

250-300. the carb 350 packages make around 290-310 usually.

It actually works like a reverse dyno, if you pin it to max RPM then compare to chart. You'll know. it also depends on how much PSI you're loading your suction piece with... but that's a whole nother discussion.

In interested to see what the boat does now that I’ve removed some shrapnel. In the first 3 trips I had to maintain 3600 to stay up on step.
