Kids rode in Chappel today. Trail in was rough with open creek crossings. Snow was so deep they did not make it to the lakes area. All agree it was prime Turbo conditions.

VARDA website states trails to be groomed tonight.

Parking lot was DEEP. Few vehicles got stuck with one needing a pull to get out.

They say at least 4 feet or more of powder up top…

Edit: I was told to, “Watch out for massive swells,” sounds like there are giant powder pillows with drop offs as you cut across open terrain.
Sounds like Chappell was the place to be. Thought about heading there today too...

Ill be in Vale Friday night sledding Saturday and Sunday looking forward to it. Just installing the GPS module now and front box, then have to get the deck installed tomorrow and pack. See you in them hills, I'll be the guy learning to ride again on my G5Turbo, no laughing. Thanks for the awesome pics.

Hope to run in to ya Ron. We'll be around thru new years. Running home in the morning to pick up my boy and his sled, then right back out.

Clemina was epic today. We were first up into Goat Ridge Bowl. No tracks to the left (north) when we dropped in. Went to the next ridge but some deep snow on the ridge line to drop in. So we opted not to. Maybe others did later in the day? Ended the day in Morning Glory. Visibility was poor (2 pm when we left). Lots of untouched powder from what we saw to the right side (south area). I only mention it as we are not going back tomorrow!

Trail in was great in the morning. Excellent grooming by VARDA team. Coming out last few KM were ok but there is an open creek with rock edges so watch for that. Parking lot was full. Lots of late day riders.

Made it to the hi way 5 turn off on 16 and got turned around for a fatality. Hi way shut down and suspected to be closed all night.

Got one of the last rooms in Jasper, but have my truck and trailer parked almost 2 blocks away.

Stay safe out there!

Highways back open , tried to get through around 8ish. Spent a couple hours working on the sleds in the trailer until it was re opened

Those pics above don't show the hill, thats a ways up. Well that was with finger throttle which has now been removed and back to stock for sunday thanks to Dawizman who had one with him.

Rode Allan on Saturday, Stayed fairly close, about 5 km radius. Trail was great going up. About 3" of fresh over an approximate 8-10" then a decent base. Most hazards are just covered, but a little more snow and there gone, or filled.

Had a decent day, I struggled with the finger throttle and I still need better balance and need to reduce my weight and get strength up. With this Turbo, I cant hold on properly and end up going to the right, Ill see how that gets over time.
Showtime did some damage to his doo

Trail going down was OK till the last 2 km and it was quite bumpy. My bag link q bracket broke on the last km, and lost it however a nice guy brought it down and asked me if I was missing it, thankyou.

The Polaris was owned by a guy staying at summit river lodge. His finger throttle got snagged by a tree and the sled went full throttle up and destroyed the sled.

Sunday we hit Clemina, only went into Goat Ridge and a few meadows, my right hand was quite stiff and cramped up so didn't do a ton of riding. Trail up was awefull for the first 5-6 km with an open creek with rocks and huge whoops. Very minimal grooming there then was generally good the remaining way up to the cabin. Grooming was started at approximately 5 km. Snow was decent at 6 - 12" of fresh and lots of untracked.

Ouch!
No Finger Throttle Guard on that sled?
I feel they are useless to be honest. If you hit a tree, it's only going to hit the throttle momentarily unless something else breaks, and the throttle sticks, and no tether is in use.

One been running without a guard on my finger throttle fit a couple seasons now, and no issue. I can count the number of times I've got a tree with my handlebars on one hand, and we spend some serious time in the bush.

Wife and I are looking to ride Clemina. Anyone been there lately? Curious about this creek crossing and are we riding dirt and rocks for the first 2 km.

The creek crossing at the bottom isn’t to bad, it’s open but not very wide, the narrow spots are less than a ski wide . Kids should be fine if they go slow.
