I was using an engine tech and have not had any problems with it so far. I was thinking about selling it since I will be buying a turbo this summer and will be putting the motor back to stock. If you have any interest I will be selling everything.

Thanks
Kelly

Re: M7 big bore kit wich one is best and how much also best shop to install?

Hello

Never really put much thought into that. What kind of pipe would I have to find and how much would I have to lower the compression to make it work. Also I have not heard of anyone turboing one of these kits. If you know someone who has done it I would like to talk to them if possible. I have really low miles on all the parts so it may be an option. However my plan was to sell the whole kit and it would offset some of the cost of the new turbo.

To be HONEST with YOU!!!! NONE, like I said I dont believe in them, ANYONE can bolt them on and TAKE CREDIT for what a turbo can do for an engine. Do you think you could explain to ALL of us exactly HOW a turbo works and what it actually does to increase hp and performance????

Re: M7 big bore kit wich one is best and how much also best shop to install?

Now let me ask you this, Does a turbo increase crank case pressure, or is that something that is UNTOLD?? Also are you 100% positive that a turbo will make as much air at ALTITUDE that it will here at HOME???

yes it will increase crank case pressure.. If you are pressureizing the intake system, how could it not.. As the crankcase is part of the intake system on a two stroke.. Well turbo's are designed to push a certain amount of boost pressure (psi).. They push the same amount of psi here as they do at alttitude.. So even though the air is thinner at alttitude it will still push as much psi boost as the turbo is set-up for..

I get the feeling that a certain someone, not mentioning names is just trying to stir up sh&&*t.. Which is whatever.. I dont care.. But there are some informative points in here.. That is why i answer the questions tuthfully and honestly to the best of my knowledge.. Because what i do on here is to try and share the knowledge that i have learned with other people that are interested and also learn things myself at times aswell... And yes this thread is supposed to be about M7 big bores..

Hey there,
do not turbo your engine tech, unless you like wrenching as apposed to riding. put the stock 7 back in and turbo. keep in mind you do not just bolt on a turbo and ride. the guys who think they can do that are on the snowest site with dirt cheap turbo sleds for sale. I have put 100+ hrs into my turbo this year and have a 100+ hours seat time on it as well. The thing is absoulutly mind boggling for power and funness to ride. You will need to know what you are doing though. tuning is relativly easy, once I got mine set I have not touched the bonndocker box in 4 or 5 trips. has been working in all conditions. The thing you must do is go through the sled after every trip. tighten bolts, check boost lines, check oil lines. wear and tear seems to be accelerated on 12 lbs boost. I have over a 1000 kms on my kit and I had a look at the top end last week and it is flawless. very happy!!! The kits do not come as pull the rope and go, even though they claim they do. myself and 4-5 others I ride with frequently have all put turbos on and have all had the same issues, and there are many changes to be made from the original kits. expect to spend another 1000 or more on top of the kit getting it to work. the funny thing is, out of all the places around edmonton that do the kits, not one of them can convince they have the answer to a pull the rope and go seld. I have personally witnessed 4 different mod shop sleds not working worth sh$% in the mountains. Kinda brings a smile to my face when I see it too, cause me and some friends have been able to get ours dialed right in and have no riding issues, just per fun. If you are good with tuning and engines, then do it, there is nothing like riding a turbo sled. if you do not like wrenching and tuning, and high fuel costs stick to stock or big bore. I assure you that the turbo will be worth it, if it runs right. I know I said not to turob your engine tech because you would be wrenching, the turbo is more maintance as apposed to fixing and constantly tuning to keep running right, as you would be doing with the engine tech turboed.

Mr COOPS can you actually give some concrete evidence as to WHY he shouldnt turbo his engine tech???

I have never heard any great success stories from guys putting turbo's on after market big bore kits. I suppose if there were more people would be doing it. From talking to the some boys down south who have done many big bore kits with turbo's, they tell me that they just become unreliable. your an engine guy, take a ported, polished, motor that is set up to run on the ragged edge and then throw another 100hp at it. Not saying it can't work, but like all the guys out there have experienced, it just becomes a tuning nightmare and generally unreliable. beefy and detuned engines, such as stock ones work best. I would have turboed my mod 800 from last year if one person could have told how well there mod turbo was running, which is why I went with a arctic stock 700cc engine. i suppose guys can make them work, a guy who hhas never dabbled with turbo's might not want to take on that project his first turbo sled. I know from experience you will learn more than you ever need to know about your sled if you turbo it. I am by no means an experienced sled builder or engine head, but I did build my own lightweight turbo sled from a pile of bolts on the floor and also have 100's of hrs seat time on it to back up my claims. I have had 50days plus each year for past 3 years in the mountains and have been riding for 9 in the mountains. the first year was on a stock 900 with nitrous, no issues, and no shop time. the second year modded m cat with 800 kit in it and nitrous. began to put a few more hours in the shop. This last year 1-1 ratio riding to shop time. The turbo runs phenominal but comes with a price, many hours of regular maintance.
Getting to the point, stock sleds turboed will bring more joy to your life than a modded one and be prepared to put in shop time to keep that smile on your face.

His excuse is reliability, but between you and me...I think he's just scared that it'll beat his poor kitty. ;) :D

there is very little difference between a 7 on boost and a 1000 on boost, you would think there would be. t1000 at 10lbs runs dead even with my t7 on 12lbs. at 13-14lbs neither can keep the sled from coming over backwards long enough to reach top end in a long pull, so it turns into a rider throttle control race, ie, who can keep the skis on the snow longest to build mph. but you are probably just giving me the gears, so it is irrelavant.

No No not giving ya gears, I asked because i wanted to know. I havent played with to many turbos, and in looking at what is inside an engine tech kit i see no reason why it shouldnt work. Thats one thing that always impressed the hell out of me was the engine tech kits are far from a seriously modded or on the edge engine. The compression isnt huge and there are domes available to lower it aswell. To be honest i wouldnt have asked this ?? if I wasnt 110% certain that there is a turbo being built SPECIFICALLY for engine tech. ;)

Mr coops is exactly right in the fact that turboing your stock sled isnt that bad overall, but there is more maintanance time involved.. And when you put a big bore kit on they can work really well once set up.. But turboing a big bore is possible but should probably not be done by someone without a fair bit of turbo tuning experience.. Because it will be harder to tune and will require a fair bit of maintanance.. If i am right it is brad story that has the m1200t.. He has a little experience tuning sleds if i'm not wrong.. Just my thoughts on the matter.

m1000 garret turbo with 10lbs boost straight c12 300hp
no 700 turbo is going to keep up, m1000t runs past everytime.

turbo a engine tech motor no problem, strong billit cylinders with a cast stock like piston for reliablility perfect, more torque off the bottom end with a big bore, add low compression domes (12-1), stock pipe welded for strength, stock style reeds and catch ya later.;)
