Sounds good! We went to Fernje this season, my dad hadn't been their since he broke his back in 95ish. My first trip their, it was awesome! Found some nice powder rode the pipeline, nice tree riding and some nice little hills to
Poke at. We were thinking of going to Elkford but had never been their so we wanted an easy area to navigate or someone to show us around. I'll let you know when we head down their again.

Elkford is quieter than Fernie. The trees are generally tighter but I think we have more open meadows. They get rode out quite quickly and we don't get the dumps like Fernie so it takes a while for them to get powdery again. Let me know and I'll give you a tour.

Hotels are cheaper that Fernie and if you wish, you can ride from your hotel. Keep in touch and start looking in November.

Another chapter

There was a cabin located in some big huge meadow where the buffalo roamed

it was a base for the biologists doing surveys on the bison

 

[ferniesnow]

and we used to use it to camp

It was a 3 hour ride from town if the snow wasn't too deep

 

[ferniesnow]

load the skimmers with everything including extra gas

 

[ferniesnow]

get to the cabin, unpack and then go set some snares

 

[ferniesnow]

by the time we got the cabin warm, wood cut, and had a few drinks

 

[ferniesnow]

we had to check the snare.

usually a few rabbits

skin them and clean them. Let them cool

then the spices and flour coating.

into a hot cast iron frying pan

 

[ferniesnow]

boil a pot of water and add some barley. Let it simmer

 

[ferniesnow]

Steak for supper and few more drinks

put the browned rabbit in the soup pot and let simmer over night. Supper the next day or two
