well deano i was just kinda gettin tired of people sayin all the different things about kits.. So figured it'd be good to get them on the snow and actually see what's workin well.. It'd be good to just see how they work and what different set-ups work like.. we're still crankin more and more big bores out of the shop all the time.. But all in all i thought that it'd be good for a bunch of guys from here and around the area to get together for a ride and have some fun.. Cause thats whats she's all about, havin fun.

Oh its not an Engine tech I plan on bringing;) Its kinda like bringing a knife to a gun fight however its a pretyy sharp knife:D As far as the time of year thing goes id like to see these sleds in POWDER and fluffy POWDER at that. Then you get to see not only what the engine can do, but what CHASSIS mods actually work:)

i saw a specialtly 860 kit in a 30$ chassy get his a#$ handed to him several times. It was very amusing, becasue the guy was a bit of a loud mouth and would not shut up about his killer 860 kit. he got beat by 4 sled lengths 3 times in a row by a stock xp. was the funniest thing I saw all year. I do not understand why guys will spend that much money to gain 10-20hp. just turbo it and this conversation won't exist LOL. Also the debit should be about clutching not the kit. either kit set up right should in theory make equal power, but the one that works the best will have the best clutching.

Was anyone besides Ken invited to this shootout?I have not seen any info (on any forum sites)about where/when the shootout is at Valemont this weekend. Are all sleds on pump gas,or are some running bumped compression/race fuel, timing porting etc.It is hard to honestly compare if you are not comparing apples to apples.

a specialty 860 or a rkt kit? I didn't know specialty built motors but more of a salesman shop.
$2000 for a lame motor that doesn't work in the mtns and 28k for no good parts, maybe?
turbo it and its $6500+ for the kit and $150+ a day for fuel adds up over the year. and your conversation is "man sledding is expensive!"
people are too quick to lay down the card and not research what there buying. bling bling crap!

I agree that clutching can make a sled work or not work.. Do you know if it was built at the shop or not?? Trying to think of which sled that would be.

yes it was built at the shop. the guy would not shut up about it. It was funny becasue even at the end of the day he walked across the parking lot to ask what was REALLY done to the stock xp, and I assure you it is a bone stock xp.

first off-the 860 kit is ours, its in a stock XP chassis not a 30000.00 lite weight, was racing a stock XP that does run very well, and is set up by a guy who knows clutching, and was on flat ground, derricks 860 was on the rev chip, and was clutched way too lite for flat land,he knew it and got beat--thats all-of all the guys who knew there was going to be a little test session at allen last saturday and never showed up-they didnt miss much-no one showed up-we had good snow and had a good day, maybe next time---i will have my 860 out for the next few weekends, if anyone wants to test, let me know-im sure we could all learn something,

as for the 1075? not sure if the bottom end would handle it if it actually worked like most would want it too.

PSI's 1085 is based off the Polaris 800/900 big block isn't it? Was a prototype (the one I saw anyway) pretty impressive looking motor. If you have seen the custom 1300 motor that Ralph machined, very trick like that one. New jugs for sure, I would imagine that there is an extensive amount of machining and case porting to make it flow. Don't know how it works, what it needs to run or what its worth, there was a company building them though. At the end of the day, there's no replacement for displacement. :)

what does ralph's 1300 have to do with the 1075(maybe we'll see one day) big bore.
the 1300 is custom cases, not rotax cases, with a custom crank with crank shop 98mm cyls. the 1300 bottom end will handle more top end then that. its a low revving torque motor.

the 1085 had longer rods a stroked 76mm crank, larger rod pins to make it stronger.
how many are they still selling?
