Well the impression i was getting was that specialty was promoting the RK TEK 860, but apparently they have their OWN specs for a 170plus hp 860. Who New, Whoda thunk it to be true.;)

I believe specialty has an rk tek 860 that is built to their specs, not a completely different kit.

Who's dyno? I have not heard of any pump gas 800r engines over 165 HP on a reputable Alberta dyno.

SLP's add-on kits (Y-pipe, single pipe, reeds and head - not even a big bore 800) makes 172 on the dyno (assume sea level jetting and power levels). Wouldn't be a huge stretch (maybe just a little one) to say that a big bore 800 could be 170+ in Alberta at 3000ft. Would have to see the dyno sheets and fuel values to make a more informed statement though.

ts a pretty good stretch without some VERY aggressive porting and some pretty SERIOUS compression. These numbers are what would most closely represent a stock 1000cc engine and its got another 140cc behind it. Doubtfull in my mind that a pump gas 860 with a single on it will make more than the 160 maybe 165hp. Granted yes 170 maybe achievable but its not going to be on pump gas and it wont be an everyday rider. Just my opinion though, continue on folks:)

If people could get 150hp out of a 670 on pump gas, why could you not get an 860 to run 170 on pump gas? Thats got another 190cc behind it. Not trying to be a smart a$$, just asking.

I had more than one 150hp 670 and they most defineatly did not run on just pump fuel, it had a hell of alot more than 13.5:1 comp and some pretty fancy porting, including BELOW the cylinders;) There are 827 big bores out there making an HONEST 150-154hp so please tell me HOW with only 33cc's difference we have jumped 20 or more hp. The 670 was also a completey different engine. Being a rotary valve intake allowed for MANY more changes to be made to the timing and flow of the intake even before you dug out the grinder.;) Again of course just my educated guess here. We need to know more about the 860 kit they are using and where it was dyno'd and by whom, compression, pipe, timing, porting, fuel consumption values, etc before any one can say anything more about it. Just becuz I say I'm good looking doesn't make it true either :)

Yes very true very true! What puzzles me is the 170+ thing. To me that sounds like a generalization of the numbers. Was it dyno'd or not????

In my experience you can make a dyno run produce any number you want, the real world running usually tells the story. Yea dyno numbers look impressive but if they can't be reproduced on the hill it's just bull s--- in my opinion. I don't believe that specialty sleds have anything special, just off the shelf rktech parts to their specs ha.ha. rktech can set you up however you ride.
you seem to be getting all worked up over their #s, kelsey's stuff works real well, you have to adjust to your conditions and riding area.
I'd guess you have to justify high price assembly, Idaho is only a few hrs. away, less cost for assembly and should run as promised, and after sale service is good
You get what you pay for usually, but buyer beware as there are alot of pretenders out there
