thats kind of my point aswell. i could strip half the stuff of my xm too and make it super light!

no rear cooler...check...bolt on some standard efi....check.....remove etec oiling system to be less efficient and use more oil.....check.....remove bolts....check. throw on some cheap plastic material and call it a center console...check..grab some switches from princess auto for accessories....check...pull guages from 2001 mxz install on summit xm....check...remove 1" from track width...check.....remove 1/4" of lug...check.. OH look there the same weight now!

ive ALWAYS said there should be a bare bones lightweight MOUNTAIN sled. the pro rmk is that sled and there aint nothing wrong with that. good bang for your buck.

Didn't BRP try the Jenny Craig thing a few years back.. and fail ... I believe your beloved XP has been on a weight gain every year since, ya just gotta be proud of that!! I am curious to see if the XM has kept up the BRP weight gain tradition?? If so, it won't be to many more years and you just might have to compare them to the Yammy's!! lol Oh and I fixed it for you as I do believe that "lightweight MOUNTAIN sled" has been the goal for the mountain riders for as far back as I can remember...

I can never understand these weight threads. One guy wants it weighed without fuel, one guy says its not fair this one holds more oil or coolant then that one, this one has a 45 gallon drum for a resevoir for inj oil (wonder which one I'm talking about there..... Lol)

my question is, aside from the pc800 riders that SHOULDN'T be filling their oil bottles right to the top since there's enough oil in them at that point to last everyone in your entire group...., does anyone else ride up the hill with a half tank of gas just so their sled is 15lbs lighter?? How does one determine a sled is "ready to ride" and not include gas?? It's like a dealer telling u when u pick up ur sled "yes by'e, yer sleds good to go by'e, just pull that dere cord and she'll fire right up" when u come to realize they've left the motor under the bench not installed.... Yup. Ready to ride, just don't forget to bolt your motor back in before ya leaves in the morning LOL.

My point is, I just don't understand this weighing sleds minus gas. They all have different capacities for fluids but we all top them up before we ride. In my opinion, if u want to compare weights of sleds, best way to do it is suck every bit of fluid out of them like a .05$ hooker, throw em on the scales. Compare. Then top them up with all fluids as per manufacturer instructions, INCLUDING fuel, then weigh them. Compare. Any other way ya does it causes so much confusion, everyone gets different numbers, everyone's gotta have the right number on the scale when they're all different, it's hilarious. Lol. Anyways. That's definitely my rant for the day.

Hey maxwell, next time I'm down your way ill throw my kitty on your scales as long as u understand I'm not responsible if your scales break LOL.

xp never gained weight. it only gained weight with the release of the etec and larger unported tracks. go look at a 2008xp and a 2012 xp. the chassis is identical

all you can do is weigh them full of all fluids including gas. then you can do comparisions by removing/adding weight for extra oil, fuel or coolant. and then after that its a matter of personal preference if the features brought about by the extra weight are worth it to you.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't doo add weight from strengthening up the xp chassis? If I remember correctly the xp's were bending bulkheads and weren't built strong enough when the chassis first came out? Not trying to bash just remember something along the lines of that happening.. Cuz from 2008 to 2010 doo did add some weight..

who wants it weighed without fuel? who the Eff is gonna ride down the trail with no fuel in there sled, and who cares about weight performance unless you have fuel in the tank!!! lol I think all sleds should be FULL of fuel and ALL fluids topped up. If you want your sled to weigh less and carry less fuel/fluids that is their choice lol Then you should also add the 5 gallon gerry can you have on the back too, like really.... dry weight is ridiculous and shouldn't exist, and if it does, it should only exist in engineering dick measuring contests.

I love these threads, I have this fight with my buddies all the time, it's who's done what to their sled weight and hp, who weighs the most, then it becomes who can drink the most, who's got the most hair or grey hair, and so on haha I like reading the stats of the sled weights but I also agree they should be ready to go weights not dry weights there are too many variables as mentioned, and if you're truly concerned with the weight of your sled, you better be killin it in the gym everyday you're not riding doing cardio and weights, eating perfect and not drinking beer otherwise you have room to improve that's free to make up for any weight your sled has, I was 247 last winter and 210 this winter and still lifting almost the same at the gym and I just added the whole cardio portion I used to skip to my everyday routine, my old cats will feel like they're not old school tanks from that alone;) I say go to the gym, get a membership, make the whole idea of going regularly a habit not just for sledding but for your health too and then when you're getting to a target or healthy goal weight if you still need weight loss on the sled, that's when you worry about it. I have guys in my group who bitch their sledding gear is too heavy(ie shovels, beacons, helmet, etc) yet they don't look after their health so what makes more sense, $500 for a fancy beacon that weighs ounces less, or having 3 big macs a day instead of 4 and maybe taking your fat azz for a walk once and awhile;) Unless someone weighs the big three ready to ride, IMO it's a waste of time, that's my rant for the day, had this argument with a buddy this morning

We should compare this "what do they weigh" thread to the one from last year and the year before and the year before that.......actually we shouldn't....it's a waist of time. Don't think I've learned a whole lot from this one either...except for what I had known from experience...the XP started light as hell and got heavier because it needed to

PLEESE show me how this is incorrect 2008=429 pds. 2010=446 pds. Seems pretty simple to me but I'm sure you'll have some excuse as to it not being correct. When the XP came out I went to Riverside to check it out, the running boards flexed down about a half inch when I stood on it, did they still do that in 2012?

They did add some material to the bracing but at the same time everyone who was weighing the 08 found Doo to be off in their weights by about 22.5 pounds if I remember correctly. Since then they calibrated their scales.
