The one I wanted was the full crewcab with the 6.5' box. He could only find it in an SLT but it had so many options on it it was basically a bighorn without a sunroof. Good enough for me but that's just too much for a half ton. I am not ready to give up my 8' box 3500, and not prepared to spend $65k to get into a new one.

Longbox is nice. So is my 5'5 box. They need to build one that extends I think.
Yeah I'm torn because the 8' is perfect for the sled deck and hauling bikes and quads but a little long for when I'm in the city. 5.5' won't work for me as the tailgate would have to be down to haul toys and interfere with my TT when camping.

Really? Must have the same suspension as the diesel without the extra weight. That sucks

Yeah empty box the back is going to be rough but the front was harsh too. Salesman said same suspension as the diesel, but salesman speak can be accurate or BS never know for sure.

Buddy says his 8 speed 5.7 averages 13/100.

I picked up one right around a month ago ('14 1500 Sport Crew 4X4 5'7" box w/ 5.7 w/ everything but the Ramboxes and air suspension) and after 4200km, that's what mine is showing as well. Damn nice truck and I'm not regretting it at all.

7.7L / 100 km the other morning to work. Will be interesting as my brother just bought a new 2014 Chevy 1/2 ton with the 327 gas, he's claiming he will get over 30 mpg with it. I will post his mileage when he shares.

What? You think dodge is bad for electrical reliability! You never been around any type of gm made vehicle have you?

Dodge is way worse for electrical. Every guy I know personally that has had or currently owns a dodge ram between '08 and '13 has an electrical problem. Whether it be stereo, power door locks, power windows, or lights they all have at least one issue. And issues the dealers can't seem to fix for some reason on any of them. They throw parts at them and then the problems come back. My brother in laws '03 has had non working rear power windows for 8 years now. After the third time to the dealer he gave up. Buddies '05 and then 2 years later his '06, same thing.
I've owned or had several work and personal trucks both Ford and GM. Not one electrical problem except for a fuse that blew for the power windows in my Powerstroke for some reason. Only did it once.

That said I am interested in the Ram 1/2 ton diesel. I like the mileage advertised and actual numbers seem to be close. I know Dodge tried the 5L cummins but ditched it because it didn't get as good of fuel mileage as they wanted. Nissan picked it up because the mileage in their outdated Titan engine absolutely sucks and sales are dropping huge. Guess that's what happens when you make no changes to ANYTHING in your truck for 10 years. I have an '09 and it's no different from a 4 or 14.

As far as GM coming out with a 1/2 ton diesel that has been speculation for 4 years now. They had an engine ready to go and then scrapped it as in 2 years they wouldn't have been able to meet emissions. They are struggling the most out of all the diesel's to make emissions-they need to come up with something soon as Ford really stepped it up. Dodge dropped the Dakota and had no choice - they needed a good 1/2 ton to fill the gap.

Hmm. I have two dodge 3500 diesels, a 12 and an 06. Zero electrical issues ever with either one...

I'm not saying they all do, but out of the big three trucks I know more people personally with Dodge electrical issues than the other two combined. Enough so that I would have a hard time calling it just coincidence.
FWIW even with all that I'd still buy a Dodge over a Ford.

Can we get that text with proper units?

MPG is the only unit of yankee measurement I actually like and use personally.
Liter/100km is the gayest measurement ever. Who drives exactly 100km? I know how many L my tank holds, I want to know how far I can go on the average fuel consumption/km.
KM/L makes more sense to me.
It would be like the price of gas being calculated in liters/$100!
