Check your account (especially Rogers) to ensure there isn't an error after your plan change. See below.

I'm with Rogers. I called on Monday and made the switch from a share plan to the $60 10gb deal for 2 phones on the same account. Went into my account today to look up how much I owed to pay off my wifes 'tab' ($222), my line didn't have anything owing for my phone. I noticed that both phones had beed switch to a new plan, but to a $85/month 10gb tab plan. I called them today and had them switch it to the $60/month that it was supposed to be changed to but I still feel really uneasy about the 'mistake' the Rogers rep made. When I was talking to the rep on the phone on Monday, I had him confirm 3 times (twice after he made the change) that both phones where switched to the proper plan. It feels like this was an intentional error by a rep to overcharge a customer. Had I not looked on my account this morning I'm sure it would have been a battle to get it rectified.

Just finished a call with Rogers. I talked to a manager and found out the issue. The original rep on Monday (that told me my plan was changed) in fact didn't change my plan at the time due to system issues. I'm guessing the 1000's+ people calling for the deal bogged the system down. So he instead started a 'case file' for my account so that once the system could change my plan a second person would go in and change the plans. I guess the next rep to work on the 'case file' made the mistake changing it to the $85/month plan instead of the $60/month plan. I still feel unease that the rep on Monday wasn't upfront with me and lied that the plan had been switched but Rogers customer service has done a good job in rectifying the issues. Everyone should still log into there accounts online and ensure that the switch was done correctly. Easier to fix an error now then waiting for your bill to come in the mail. *611 is the easiest number to call to get ahold of your carrier (as long as you're calling on the phone attached to that account)

Hope no one else has an error, but if you do, I hope this helped you catch it.

I think people might have gone a bit mental on this one, so right now 10g is $80 with my provider and people have actually gone in cancelled plans paid out penalties to save $20/month? Great program for providers to generate some cash flow with all the contract payouts lol.

My wife’s phone had 12 months left on the contract. Even after paying off the outstanding tab ($233) we still have a savings of $550 this year and $720/yr after that if we stay on the same plan. That also doubles our shard data of 10gb to 20gb (10gb for each phone). We would go over our data 2-4 times a year. If I caught it before we went over it would only cost $15. If I didn’t it was a minimum of $50. With both of us having so much data I won’t have to worry about going over anymore. I’ll be able to use her data to watch the game on the go. Lol

I'm sure jumping on this plan made sense for a lot of people. For some it didn’t.

Ah.. I didn't really know there were that sh#tty of plans out there, ours is shared data at 45 a month for 4g, 60 for 6g or 80 for 10g. I set that up about a year ago with telus.

The 10g of data was with unlimited nationwide calling and texting for 60 bucks a month, Kinda a no brainer for some. My wife and I saved 10 bucks a month and have 10g each now, where we shared 2g before.

I buy my phones outright also, going on a contract is a waste of money.

I get unlimited Canada wide calling & texting with 3 gigs for $30 a month from Bell.
I don't usually go over 1 gig.

This is a decent deal but you can grind them down & get a better deal yet if you wanna put in the time on the phone with the loyalty retention dept.

And I'm month to month, no contract

As an update, I had emailed Telus during the 60-10 promo and they actually honored it a week later for both wife and I. So I'm pretty happy.

Will they just charge you this rate for a couple of months and go back to your previous rate, or did they lock it in for you?

That's a good question. It's not implied either way and I see no "terms" stating it's only a set time frame or anything. Checked account online and nothing there either. Pretty sure that was Telus' deal though was that it would be forever as their way to initially one-up Rogers.
