well man the fact of the matter is most of us immigrants will stand up and fight for this country, most of the people coming in today not a chance, there's a huge difference

not that I am in support to have immigrants trying to transform our society that ALL Canadians from many ethnic back grounds took to build over the century. On the other hand, I wonder if any of you ever thought if we westerners converted to their culture when we are in their country. I can give you the answer….. nope. Go to any of these places and you will find expats living behind walls with N.American goods for sale, booze for sale (in countries that it is prohibited), almost any fast food chain imaginable, etc etc. How do you think Christians set up shop in the middle east……. mainly thru missions. Who are we to judge when we have been the worst culprits spreading our culture/religion over there for centuries. Don't believe grab a plane and see for yourself. Anyway, don't get me wrong, I am dead against anyone trying to change our great country and the values we all share. But we carry a lot of blame. IMO I would rather spread the word about the following video and the struggle muslim women have against their barbaric men. Now that is a fight worth doing. Cheers!

Why don't we help the homeless and unemployed that are here already. With the economy taking a down turn and thousands being layed off in alberta already why get more that can't work.

If we had any balls we'd help them make their own country safe for them to live in. That's what we used to do. Of course our military's been gutted now, so we're out.

I guess we have two problems. Straightening out the middle east is certainly the main thing (which is really hard), but in the mean time what about all the victoms. I think that is the question this thread started to address.

It is sad that there are victims from their internal termoil but bringing their ideals and cultural problems to Canada causes two problems.
1) Condones the results of terrorism -some other country will help those affected - world not willing to deal with root cause because they will not be viewed as a compassionate country. It is easier to let thousands be killed/butchered and let some into your country instead so as not to be associated with the problem. History and historic results are just that - history - focus on what the present root cause is and correct the problem creating these migrants.
2) A way of life non compatable with western ways does not help to solve the social issues (vets, elderly, aboriginal, homeless, our own thousands of children in need of help) we are already burdened with. We are just setting up our present social system for future failure from multiple directions. If you can't see that far ahead for yourself just look across the ocean at Europe's problems.

This is another thread headed for disaster as soon as the M word is used.
