i thought u new this area ? Fernie ? there is a couple places that get groomed o_O

Groomed????? Let's see now......I've paid money to get my body pounded to death on your "groomed" trails three times in Giveout.......paid twice and refused to pay once for the same mogul ride up 6 mile to Crusader to Meteor........if you call that "grooming" you can have it! You couldn't pay me to ride Giveout again, and I go into Meteor from Slocan now. Just as bumpy but wayyyyy shorter. Now Castlegar is a different story. Awesome groomed trails to fantastic off trail riding.........and no Willy, 'cuz apparantly he only rides in his back yard!

A little bird told me that the Beaver valley sled club just got rights to use land and they have a cat already :) and there will be a new cabin built yaaahooooooo ! Fernie i think the problems are more over yer way !!

With WildSight looking for the Park, I believe you. We are a little ahead of you but DarkWoods may be the first step in your neck of the woods.

actully i have shook the hand of the man to hand over the rights to the darkwoods area ... nothing wrong with having some spots for the animals is there ??

No there isn't Willy but it starts slowly and escalates into a scary situation. Between the AMA's, the Nature Conservancy, the Nature Trust, the private landowners selling to various other organizations, it is a nightmare. Tembec needed cash and who had the money for the parcels that they offered? The Nature Trust. They wouldn't even let a mountain bike race go through the property. Mark my words, DarkWoods is a start in your neighbourhood.

still lots of places to play :) we will be ok . we are not close enough to the Alberta boarder ...

It isn't Alberta per se, even tho' the Nature Conservancy owns a large chunk of land around Waterton National Park, it is the whole process of a little piece here and a little piece there. DarkWoods may be the first piece over there but that I'm not sure of.

Not sure what this talk about Darkwoods has to do with sledding, NCC has already made off trail (read forest logging road) sledding a crime in the old Darkwoods property. Bottom of Porcupine there is a huge sign with a map explaining that sledding through NCC property (with a permit) is only allowed on certain logging roads, no off road snowmobiling.

And that new caribou closure affects you up Oscar and Wildhorse too so not sure where you live by Salmo but east side of the highway is almost a lost cause now. I'll stick to the groomed Ladybird/Goose ck trails and let you fight with the skiers up Barret/Lost lakes. :D

I just think it is a start for more closures in the West Kootenays. As I said earlier, another piece to the puzzle or the very long term of Y2Y.

Willy lets us believe that there is nothing to worry about over there with land issues and/or closures. They started small in the East Kootenays and our maps are pretty cut up 15 years later. The quad riders have been the most seriously hit.

Mostly it is to get a rise out of ol' oneye! It would be pretty boring without him this summer.

LMAO willy u r such a drama queen. Is this the same...what....6? member club who formerly tried something similar on the Bombi? or the splinter cell that had "exclusive use" in a forestry area along with everyone else? yawn.....go out back ride the same 40 acres you do every weekend and when the real issues come your way (what.......you didn't think bragging about 'your' area on the internet wasn't like advertising.......), no one will stand up for you and "your" riding area when they broad brushstroke it closed from Victoria someday.....

ps. do a sun dance or something man, we got like 4 inches of rain at the cabin this weekend it was ridiculous. I didn't think Castlegar would have any good strippers on Canada Day so we just stayed out there in the rain. Oh and I think I might have passed you on Thursday night near Salmo....were you the guy driving the '91 Pathfinder with 4 bald tires (your passenger rear is going flat...btw), ski rack on the top with rossignol, volkl, and sun ice logos and an "I Love Nelson" sticker on the back window? Pretty sure it was you, I waved but you didn't wave back but I passed you on a little hill and you had slowed down to like 60 already and I was still able to maintain the 100 km/hr speed limit so I went by you pretty quick, not sure if you saw me wave. Anyway, I was the handsome guy with white oakleys driving the ridiculously loud brand new Ford F-250 who was laughing and throwing money out the windows...fawk yeah baby!

Ha, ha, ha now I have to laugh at that one! Not a chance in hell would Ted Nelson give them the ok to cross his land after the fiasco a few years back at the parking lot. BVSA members had blocked the entrance to a PUBLIC parking lot saying you had to be a member to park and ride there! Nelson threw their asses out of there when he heard that one and I don't think he will be changing his mind any time soon.

As far as the tenure on Kelly mtn, I haven't seen any public notice given for an application so I'm not holding my breath. Good on them if they do get it but hope they change their attitude towards public riding that area. Many access points to Beaver/Kelly mtn and there are a lot of guys like me who work shift work and ride during the week most of the time. :D

Before you start slagging the sled club I am treasurer and secretary for, (Nelson Sno-Goers) We actively groomed this past season, more than ever. I have no idea what the grooming was like when you were over here, it was my first season on this side of the Salmo/Creston, but I will assure you that our club takes great pride in maintaining our area. Dedicated and skilled volunteers have worked their butts off to ensure the trails were kept at their optimum potential. Sometimes stuff gets pounded out, I understand that your experience was not a great one, I am sorry for that. But I believe this is a strong club with a lot of potential, and lots of great people involved who work hard to make sure we have a positive presence in this area. If you come back to this area to ride, I'll do my best to make sure your ride is a good one.
