You shouldn't stereotype Willy. You can't assume he's a pothead just because he lives in the bush by Nelson, uses the name Willy, can't spell, has trashed cars in his yard, errrr, nevemind.

For once I agree with WILLY!!!! More people will cause more problems. Most of the places I ride are locals only as we are the only ones who know where they are. There is no pressure to close them as there is little pressure from sledders.

I am the president of the Seymour Arm Snowmobile club. We are as small and locals only kinda riding as it gets as we are so far out in the bush it is almost impossible to ride here unless you have a cabin. We lost an extreme amount of terrain a few years back when all the big caribou closures were implemented. Just because you are a small group and riding an area unknown to most does not protect you in any way. In reality the only way we were able to maintain the area we have is due to our club and working with the goverment or it all would have fallen into the closure. As it stands right now we have to apply every fall for a permit to ride and along with that we must meet many requirements or it can be pulled from us imediatly.

This season we had 7 riders that believed they were above the law and rode past our boundary and well into closed areas. To go where they did they had to ride past a minimum of 3 clearly non avoidable signs marking the closure. One sign was even kindly removed and thrown into the bush. Also there is a large map outling the closure in our survival cabin (which they had no problem using and leaving in a complete mess). These seven riders were caught and for some reason only 4 were fined which is kinda strange but the biggest issue was that it was now our clubs fault these guys were there and we must come up with a solution to keep them out or we will lose our permit. For anyone out there to think they are safe from closures are just lying to themselves because the way it is trending is there will be no areas legally.
