That dirty crude will not go through the rocky's that i have a vote on. Our LNG plans will take care of the future in BC. When we get that plant in Kitamat built, which has the trees knocked off it already, Alberta is SOL. If we dont get the cash you cant pass!! The natives did it and the laws are in place for us to shut it down also.
As far as the heart of the Canadian economy "chong" try again!! You have dirty crude that you cant get to market....................... Heck even the 4 brain cells in texas dosnt want it?!!
Where is the product coming from for Kitimat and 1 small terminal going to fuel all of BC ailing economy. You have more DIRTY CRUDE passing thru BC right now and Kinder Morgan is doubling its thru put is already in the works to batch in the pipeline.

I have only read a page or two of this thread, seems like a pretty good pissing match going on. All I can say is the public opinion towards the Enbridge proposal in BC has turned very negative. A year ago I would have said it was about 50-50 for and against, now I would say its more like 20% for and 80% against.

Myself personally, I was in favor of the project a year ago, but the more I learn the more my opinion changes. At this point if I had a vote it would be no. I am very pro business, run my own company, but the cost benefit of this project just isnt there.

You need to more research sir. Apache has just let the press know they hit another gas resevoiur that is bigger than the horn river basin. It can supply that LNG plant in Kitamat for 10 years. 2 bucks for gas here 17 overseas! clean and even if there is a leak it goes directly to atmosphere, no clean-up. And for those that think that is a pollutant, the lagoon behind my house makes methane everyday and its dirtier than what comes out of a pipe.

Yeah because venting natural gas to atmosphere is such a clean wonderful thing..... especially when it's sour.

Alberta is the United States largest importer of "foreign oil" as they call it....... even if Americans think it's from the UAE. Our "dirty crude" will be around for a very long time making everything from the asphalt on your road to the siding on your house.

But that's okay, I am just a very sucessful Alberta born douche bag....... But I am not a welder..... oh damn.

I didnt talk about "venting" just that if a leak happens, which in both oil and gas happens, it dosnt hurt the environment as bad. and yes i agree the dirty crude is needed to make stuff. I just dont want a pipeline through my play ground, or in my fishin' hole. Refine that crap in your province, keep the waste in your province, and make the products in your province!!!!! The pipeline will never get approval, why would we take a risk and get 5 percent of the revenue? pay up sucker!! BC dosnt want the risk, States dosnt want to risk!!! Buy more trucks cause its not getting piped.

Screw BC, I'd rather see it piped to Irving in NB and have it refined in Canada.

Gas pipelines are so much safer, the gas just blows away with the wind.

I honestly would love for us to refine the oil in Alberta...... But no........ Instead we upgrade it slightly and send it to another country to allow them to reap the benefits of it. That however is just beauracracy....... and unfortunately most of us have no input on that.

I would much rather see refined product leave here at premium price.... Along with the need for skilled people to operate the additional upgraders and refineries. I would sell them my property to build one on if it would be viable...... I really don't mind.
