I am looking at buying a 2016 Ram 2500 with low km and is deleted with EF Live tune. The truck is exactly what I am looking for but concerned about the lack of warranty because of being deleted. Is the warranty just void on engine or everything? I have the VIN is there anywhere i can find out what work has been done to truck at dealer? Any other input is appreciated, thanks

Generally your warranty would be void only on drivetrain. You might get lucky on some parts of the drivetrain if they dont have to open the hood.

Depends on the dealer, i just traded in my 2012 with 80xxx kms and dealer didnt bat a eye on it being deleted and it didnt miss a beat was a awesome truck. My dealer fixed all the little stuff under warranty but grenaded tranny or motor may be on your own dime. I did headstuds in mine to be safe rather then warp a head. Loved mine deleted will prob delete my new 350 aswell they screw you on warranty most the time anyways

That's a tough call, if it was run at stupid power levels maybe a disaster waiting to happen, I'd make sure a mechanical was done with attention to condition of fluids in tranny, differentials etc. Personally I think guys are nuts deleting newer trucks voiding warrantee as they get great mileage without being deleted.

Yeah that is what I am worried about. The thing has less than 10,000km in it but that also makes me wonder why someone is getting rid of it. I will be taking it for an inspection if I plan on buying.

My 16 3500 runs 12-13 bone stock, Pre-def motor I'd do the same as you too.

If he has all the stock exhaust than go for it, but be warned you may not have any warranty on the whole truck if its flagged. Run the vin at a dealer and see if it has warranty.

it doesn't have the stock exhaust, 4" exhaust installed on it. Having stock exhaust would have a better chance of warranty? Yea was thinking about calling a dealer with the VIN thanks

I had a 2010 cummins that was programmed, deleted etc. The dealer wouldn't touch it. Ended up trading it in for another dodge. They called me a week later looking for the stock exhaust. Im not 100% but pretty sure the a dealer isn't supposed to sell a deleted vehicle anymore. But like I said Im not 100%.

If it were me buying a cummins I'd want warranty on it. Head-gasket issues seem to be more common on them. The nice thing about deletes is the fact that you don't have all the soot going back through the motor because of the EGR.

On a side note emissions intact trucks warm up way quicker in the winter, the EGR cooler adds a lot of heat to the engine cooling system.

The more I think about it, I think your right. Paying that much money for a truck with no warranty is a bit nuts.

No i ment does he have the stock exhaust still or did he sell it?

Agree with others, don't delete. My 13 has been perfect at 80,000kms then just this week CEL came on and wouldn't shift out of 2nd. Dealer had to pull tranny, may just be a solenoid, may be complete rebuild. Tranny has been perfect no sign of an issue before, deleting is not worth the risk of a big bill.

Financed it then spent all the money deleting it which is lots, then can't make the payments.

Seems like awful low kms to delete already. Thats a lot of warranty to throw away. The newer Ram's are getting great mileage stock. My 14 was getting 20-21 mpg hwy. Wish my Dirtymax was as good.
Like everyone else said, I'd steer clear of it.
Not to mention they are supposedly cracking down in BC on trucks with deletes.
