one thing people need to consider when voting is not just about the party or the leader but your local MP. Talking with my friends many of them never consider whether or not he/she is the person that can do great things for your local community.

thats a great point eclipse... and now that i think of it i'm totally guilty, lots of thought is put in the leader and party in general
but to get your precious tori majority, you might sacrifice your local MP and get a totally crap MP with no ties or thought to the community

Sorry I believe that in order to maintain a political immunity (able to look at all candidates and then access them personally the week of) it is easier to hear the candidate speeches then go from there. there for not participating

This drives me nuts. The person I would like to represent my local interests and the person who I would like to represent me federally, are not from the same party.

So in the end, I will vote for who represents me best locally, and roll the dice on that being the right choice.

What a fawkaround

There is no way in hell our local MP would get my vote. So, the decision is easy for me. I sent him a few emails about a couple issues that are important to me and all I get from him is a generic response basically patronizing me. He is a joke as far as I am concerned. Grrrr :d:d

One point people seem to also be missing is how much do these elections keep costing us tax payers evry two years? And the liberals and ndp keep causing them to happen whenever they seem to think that they might have a chance a winning something. The funny part is usually right after they call the election the party that causes the election(if it's not the prime minister due to his full term) there rateings drop. That is why i really hope that we get a majority goverment in this time.

Just my opinion but I hope we dont have a majority government for any party as I dont think they can handle that much power. I do hate these elections though and what it costs to deal with them. Not good!

Remember when Russia used to be a superpower in the world..... tell me where your philosophy falls in there

Remember when they only had 1 gun and 3 bullets for every 3 soldiers, lack of food, hardship, and extremely out dated technology compared to the states? Also remember that in order to make a profit Stalin had to pretty much kill off Ukraine, and that still didn't work out too well.

And every time Communism and Capitalism started ruffling each others petty coats, Capitalism seemed to kick Communism's butt.

Also, with Capitalism you get more pride for your nation. ;)

The 2008 federal election resulted in a second consecutive Conservative minority government. The first, elected during the 2006 federal election, lasted nearly three years and became the longest-standing minority parliament in Canadian history. i think thats a great effort from all the parties to postpone an inevitable election as long as they can
how did they do it
by doing absolutely nothing in parliament.... i dont know about you but i actually want them to work, not collect an easy paycheck

you really think if the grits had a minority government that the torries wouldnt pull the same ch!t on them?

here's a fun fact... they are ALL the same

yes I agree they are all the same but I cringe to think Harper with a majority government. But then again like I said in a previous thread they all cant handle it so might as well give the buffoons another minority. Not the most effective way of running a country but if none of them cant do it on their own might as well keep them in line by feeding off of each other.:d

no one remembers what happened in Vietnam?... shame
Korea? shame

I dont know about you but communists seem pretty proud in their respective countries

remember the T-34, Il-2, Mig-29.. actually most of the migs, SU-27(35), AK-47, AK-74, dragunov rifle
i dont really call that being ill equipped
the problem with the 1 gun 3 bullets thing is that people forget the Russians were in league with the nazis in invading poland... the nazis after having their fill of conquering wesdtern europe turned around and surprised attacked the soviets breaking a peace truce
surprised, USSR called a conscription, obviously the factories couldnt keep up with the influx of new soldiers...
hence the 3 bullets 1 gun a la stalingrad in "enemy at the gates" as the war prograssed the factories regained the upper hand in equipping its soldiers

atrocities against humanity have been committed by both communist countries AND Democratic countries... neither are right
i'm simply stating facts
Noticed how i used democratic, as you can have a capitalist country run by a dictator, which isnt the point of this debate

this is getting way off topic and this will be my last post on communism

agreed, thought the problem with that.. as i said, is that NOTHING gets done

and also as i've said before, never has a government been in power so long and have accomplished so little
and you are locked in a struggle to keep on to power for the sake of having power

your policies suddenly change, your focus isnt the same, you go against what you have once said etc... all in the sake of keeping power.... because you want it
and in the end... it just makes you a hypocrit
if the grits would of been in the torries place for the last 5 years... i'm sure they would of done the same thing

I guess I need to stop hiding what I am really feeling. I am so sick of society today. No accountability. No responsibility. Always expecting a hand out. Let me list the things that bother me:

Liberal Party: Wrong leader again. They like the Calgary Flames need all new scouts.

NDP Party: Jack Layton is a political whore that will jump into anyone's bed just to get his mug in the newspaper.

BLOC Party: Isn't there something in the constitution that says a party can't try and break up a country? Never get in but wasting alot of votes that could go somewhere else.

Conservative Party: Not perfect but the best of the rest. Try and do a good job in your workplace with one hand tied behind your back? Give him a chance to fail if he really as bad as the political misfits in Eastern Canada think he is. :trustme:
