So you don't see a problem with pulling a kid out of his last year of highschool and putting him into a new one?

Dude spent 3 years learning, growing and having fun with his friends, and now won't be able to grad with them.

Sorry for making assumptions, just going on what you had posted, I've been through this as the kid, and it sucked.

Yes I went through it too I think its the norm now a days family doesn't stay together like it used to and the surprising thing is that the oldest one who only has one year left is the only one that doesn't care about switching schools. I wouldn't want to pull him out for his last year. And we talked to him first before even starting on this quest as I didn't think it was right either. But the younger 2 will make new friends. How many of ur friends from high school do u still talk to on a regular basis I mean it just seems like such a big deal but in the future allot changes. People move on and don't stay in contact.

Well I am living in Sundre now after the the Ex moved here with the girls after them being in the same school for 4 years. It was very hard on them for moving and it was so the ex could be closer to her work, and her mother. I moved to be closer to the kids and now they are starting to get more settled here, yet still maintain communication with there friends from back home. So now I am in the same boat looking for something near town, but out in the country so they can still go to the same school, and not have to be moved again. Good luck with this I really don't wish divorce on anyone a tough thing to go through for all involved...but effects the kids the most!

glad things are good Magnet.Alot of times the other parents arnt crazy or uncaring douches that don't care about the kids. That's when things get tough, people who just want to be with their kids every fricking day and dread the time when the other vehical pulls in to pick them up.
Fear and anger play huge rolls in these circumstances. Can you imagine this women's life when she doesn't even want the kids staying with the BF. Sometimes there are no winners, just people left trying to make the best out of bad situations

Well isn't that sweet the only ones I talk to don't live near me and ill be lucky if I see them! So ur life would be horrible and wasted if u didn't see them anymore?? I think that the friend issue is very minor compared to the whole of the situation. I know that my bestie that I have now is a wonderful girl and had I not moved I woulda never met her!! My life wouldn't be the same without her so really it can go both ways maybe they would miss out on a life long friendship!! And its not like we are moving across the country! We are moving 30min from town!!! Their friends can come and stay the weekend swim in our pool ride our quads where I can see them!!! So enough with friends I want to know if we can be stopped! We are willing to give the mom the kids so they can stay in their current school but I don't think she could handle it!! She hasn't had the kids and a job all in the same day for oooohhhh 6 years!!!! But now she's lawyering up and I guess I wonder why cause we offered her the kids full time and we get them on the weekends when they are in school and every second holiday. If she wasn't ok with that then they live with us and have to switch schools.

first, let me say i think you are stuck in a chitty situation. you are trying to do what's best, and it's not easy, that's for sure. and i wasn't trying to say that kids can't make new friends, just commenting on your comment. and yes, it would be horrible and life altering if i couldn't see my friends who are more like family, as we've grown up together and are now sharing and watching our kids grow up together!!!!! anyways, sorry for the highjack, and best of luck to you!!

Enough Bromancing big guy.... this is a serious thread....

Mudkitty.... If I were you I'd take the kids out, show them the place, discuss the pros/cons and don't downplay the cons. The wife and I discussed at legnth the changes, lifestyle etc..and didn't sugarcoat things to be all gumdrops & lollypopps. After seing the place and talking us parents into some consessions (horses, dirtbikes, dogs) everyone was willing to take leap...

kids do meet new friends and will keep touch will the closer friends they have now, it's easier with facebook etc...

biggest thing is they can't be forced into it, their opinion does matter and no matter what the mothers actions in the eyes of the law she has the same rights to access and right to be a pain in the azz...

If you can swing it country living is better for the kids, no doubt, but it depends on the cost....we don't even have TV, kids whinned for the first few months but I haven't heard boo about it in over 3 years now...

I agree and I understand that she has a lot of chit going on buut she cheated on her husband (my man) with this guy and then left her family for him.....maybe not the sharpest knife in the drawer! But I respect her as their mother and have never ever bad mouthed her to the kids. I have promoted love for their mom when they are mad at her! I don't know what else I can do but now she's impeding my life and trying to better ourselves not only for me but for them too!! I don't know a farm kid that when they are older 20 or so say that they wish they had lived in town!!! I know I love going home to the farm and always will I just need to find a cut throat lawyer that isn't going to pussy foot around. We have done everything to suit the mom we have worked around her schedule made her life easier and it has gotten us no where!! I'm stressed and pissed. If anything this lady should thank me for taking such good care of her kids loving them and making sure that they are healthy happy kids!!!! I love these kids like they were my own and feel that my decisions have been thought out to not only benefit me but them too!!

No iron in the fire, but just a quick response that I won't sugar coat.

Always three sides to every story.

I currently think that your goal to move to the country is currently driving the issues with what is going on. The EX may not be an ideal person and you said that, in fact it doesn't matter if she is a crack whore handing out handy's for wooden nickels, she is still 50% the parent. Your current situation may not be the most ideal for where you want to live, but it sounds like with her work schedule etc it is the best fit for those involved. She is still the biological mother and she actually has more power than you do as the father's gf.

In the first post it sounds like you put the mothers back against the wall only giving her two options of what you want. How exactly did you present these to her? How did you come up with these options?? Could you have maybe sat down with her and said this is what we would like to do, how can we make it work. I honestly don't blame her for going lawyer route.

Good luck with it, lots of great advice in here. And yes, I do still hang out with my HS friends, great group of guys and wouldn't trade some of those friendships for anything.

Read through all the post's....Can you be stopped....? Once courts and lawyers get involved I wont rule it out. My ex left so to speak as she decided our marriage was over and was seeing somone else so I moved into anaprtment 2 blocks away for 1 1/2 years. Then our two kids asked to move out to an acreage. So I went and found one and bought it.

She took me to court and even though the kids after touring the out of town school and deciding they wanted to go to school out there, ( out there was 20 min outside of town) I was told that I would have to drive them back and forth as it was my decission to move way out there....(Millwoods to acreage in County of Strathcona) So for two years when it was her time , 1 week on 1 week off, I would drive the kids back and forth to school.

Then she found a new lawyer and took me back to court to make adjustments to our standards of living as she couldnt understand how I was able to pay her the child suport and buy and acerage as well as horses and quads. ( I dunno, three jobs when the kids were with her I would pick up work to the tune of 12 -14 hour days and weekends, ( PS Ididnt do well when the kids wernt around so I worked)

I didnt think this latest boguss money grab would go any where, was I wrong...even though I was still paying her child susport they went back three years and re adjusted the chid susport to make things equal ....

She was living with a guy that owns his own trucking company but she was cutting back her hours so they could travel....But I had to pay her 50,000 plus an increase inchild susport. ( Acording to the judge when I started earning more I was susposed to increase my child susport ) I left a house that was paid for and started over...

Advice...tread carefullyjust because it is right in your eyes ( and mine) dosent make it right / fair in the eyes of the court

My opinion laywers suck and only seem interested in dragging things out,( I will personlly appoligise if I ever meet one that proves me wrong.) As mentioned get the opinions of the kids, it is what I stayed away from in the courts as I aggreed it was the adults that should deal with it. It was my kids that came to me and said enough, they wrote letters and and had them noterized that went to court and evenually but a stop to the bleeding only took three years.....

My guess is she is pissed that your side can afford and provide a more stble better quality of life....

It was to date the hardest thing I have ever been through...

good luck, god bless.....

On the brite side, My kids and I are where we belong...

Well I called her and asked if she would like to talk with me. She asked what I wnted and I laid it out for her. That we are wanting to buy a place outta town and that the kids schedule would have to change. Those are the only 2 options I can see for our work schedule. I know I have no right to them I know this trust me!!! I know that all of our and her actions dont mean chit to the law they are all about whats best for the kids and they say that seeing them equal amounts of time with both parents is best!! I know all this I know that she has more right then I do I know that she is their biological mother and that she has a right to see them more then I do. I would love to have a sit down with her and try to work out a schedule thats best for everyone.
I also know that my BF should be dealing with this and he has tried but she just hangs up on him. Thats why I have taken over and tried to talk to her at least she didnt hang up on me heard me out and then lawyered up.

I'm sure there are allot of peeps on here with a bias option towards my side as they have dealt with a c~nty GF that is not me. Im level headed and like to see the big picture! Thats why the courts stress me out so much too because they are all about the 'now' rather then what would be best down the road. AHHHHHHHH FAWK!!!!!!!
