Maybe there could be a separate thread for Cummins vs Duramax arguments, this one is supposed to focus on viable options for a dead 6.4

I have had LOTS of experience with Cummins.
I have been driving 20 years, have had many trucks, hAve friends with trucks, worked at companies that had truck, have friends at dealerships that sell truck, know mechanics that work on trucks....
head gasket in the Rodgers pass was the last Cummins good time I had.
jesus crhist you Cummins fan boys are hilarious...lmao
Lol calm down its just a question. Your so sensitive. Lol JK.
All of the above goes for me and the duramax, And the cummins, and the ford 6.0l and newer.
Head gasket problems??, probably chipped.
They all have problems, just different issues.
M
yes all mechanical devices have can have issues.
duramax''s have had the least amount for me.
does that mean Cummins are total ****? no.
they are my second choice for a diesel pickup though.
Cummins fan's seem to have major issues with anybody saying there is something better. based on my experience
with Cummins fan boys lol
I'm exploring all options......getting numbers to see what a person is up against. Labour for an engine swap seem to be coming in between $2,000 and $3,000. Seem right?
Got another labour quote $4,500 plus fluids. 160K engine with 4 month warranty $6,400.

AB Superduties says $6,000 to $7,000 to rebuild current engine. Where in that range depends on how bad inside. Warranty only on the parts he installs.....lol. That would give me a running truck again and help gain some value back.
Got it repaired at Alberta Superduties. Great experience! Peter seems like a straight forward guy. Enjoyed speaking with him. Cylinder was still good so no machining required, which also kept cost down. Seems to run better than ever!
