Works good at what? Drag racing? You want a diesel for towing last I checked and Cummins is definitely more of a truck than a duramax

I agree, I do like the GMs car like design for the ride(not the 2020 tho, fugly) Im definitely not a V-8 diesel fan, for various reasons.
Pickup truck V-8 diesels are more likely to be phased out, and history has showed us this before.
The cummins has been the 3/4 and 1 ton engine for decades. Cant say the same for ford or GM.

It will be interesting to see Fords 2020 HP/tq, numbers with the new pistons and lower comp ratio.

duramax tows really nice. and is more reliable from what I've seen.

Seriously believe that? I’ll bet every dollar I have if ford or gm was given the chance they would drop their current engine to put a Cummins in in a second because they’d sell more and know it’s a better engine. The name speaks for itself. Best resale best reliability best power. You can’t tell me duramax holds a candle to a huge engine manufacturer that makes all types of engines.

In my head
Ric, this truck is very well maintained. Nothing needed other than an engine to have a great truck. It is a Lariat with Nav, DVD, upfitters, Bilstein shocks, newer leafs, remote start ..etc. etc. I can post a pic of the original window sticker later. Here are some pics of the interior.

I have had both and NO. The Duramax is quick but does not have the durability of a Cummins. Nor does it love to be loaded up like a Cummins. The Duramax has 1/2 the bearing surface as the Cummins which obviously wears faster and wait until you blow a rear main seal. I will agree only that there were some bad fuel pumps feeding the Cummins a few years back but then I could also bring up the tranny lines that turn into sprinkler system for the GM's too. These are not actually part of the motor.

YES. I have 3 duramax's and they are awesome. and my new dodge is at the dealer getting fixed....

glad yours is working good for you though.

not that the cummin's is a bad engine, but gm are just built better (as a complete package, not just the engine)

this might seem odd to you, but I base my opinion on my experience with the product, not yours or some diesel forum guys.

and how I determine my results is a simple formula.

how many times the pos leaves me walking + how many $ in repair work and tow bills I end up with over the life of the vehicle.

you aren't going to change my mind and im not trying to change your's.
