So then what would average hours be on an inboard and would be considered as getting up there or just high hours?

Hours mean nothing depending on how it's been used and maintained
Just like a vehicle, I'm not scared of high km if it's looked after, low km sometimes means more issues
It's easy to do a 100 hrs a year on a boat if it's used alot
Good example with my boat, it's a 89 and has 650 for hours, so 30 years old and works out to 20 ish hours a year averaged
If it is maintained properly in fresh water, there is no reason a gas engine will not get to 1200+ hours and some can see 2000+. It is harder on them to sit all the time. A gently used engine that is always used and maintained will last a long time. Now, just like vehicles, some go early, regardless of use. In my opinion though, anything over 800 hours, you should be prepared to have to spend some $$ at some point, so make your offer accordingly.

I have a 21 ft bow rider 2006 with 5.0 l inboard and love that boat and will be put up for sale this spring (over your budget). Bought a tritoon boat late summer with a outboard 225 Yamaha high output and wow is that motor impressive. Inboard is quieter but both are pretty similar for power the way they are set up. I have over 325 hrs in the inboard and have done some fishing in those hrs so I would not be afraid of 300 - 600 hrs considering my boat is 12 years old now. Bottom line is how its been taken care of. Good luck!

I want 20 grand out of it. Was going to start at $22,900 but my bottom dollar is 20 grand. I put pics on the S&M classifieds in the fall. It was too late to sell so will start advertising it next month.
