Nothing is impossible with enough money and resources LOL,
Canada is just short on one of those two. The US infrastructure has and always will surpass Canada's.

Nova Scotia as twined a vast majority of the TCH. The ones that suffered were the small towns cause the 4 lane bypassed them now.
I still believe I will not see the TCH twinned in my lifetime.

From Amherst to Sydney what small towns suffered? Lol. There is just a small portion of two lane left that is currently under construction.

Then from Syndey to Ottawa, four lane and a large portion along the Lakes which is already under construction or the plans exist once subsequent phases are complete to start. From there Winnipeg to the end of Yoho is just about all four lane as much of it as I can recall. Once the remainder is completed in BC there isn't much left.

Also consider that the TCH isn't one road. It has varying routes but it isn't unrealistic that the 7000+Km route from one coast to the other won't be four lane before long. There are additional sections totalling 5000km that are the alternate routes which do not have enough volume to require four lane.

So sure maybe not the entire 12000 km will be completed in the foreseeable future but your largest argument was for the Rockies portion, which I think now you see isn't all that much, remains.

I have driven it all. It has come a long way in 10-15 years.

I think that old fellow just east of Truro, who used to sit on his porch and wave at everyone on the hwy, may have passed away after they re-routed with the 4 lane away from his house

Poor old Freddie Wilson. They named the overpass after him lol

Huh really??? Lmao that's funny and that comment right there tells me you grasping for straws and don't know the history of the twinning of the highway in Nova Scotia and where the TCH used to be compared to where it is now.

Same goes for New Brunswick I used to love driving along the St. John's river heading to Fredericton.

That history is also why my argument is directed to the twinning of the TCH through the Rockies.
Traveling through it is a lot different than living there. I know lots of stories and instances were business closed down due to the four lane project.

LOL nope know nothing of it. Just because a group of maritimers got all up in arms over one gas station being bypassed by a toll road doesn't equal entire towns suffering. If there was a town that suffered it was already suffering. Anything on the old #4 wasn't worth driving through anyways. Times change, fuel economy in vehicles goes up, every small town with a pump in front of the general store is a thing of the past. Regardless of 2 lane vs 4 lane highways the little towns of yesterday are tourist attractions at the most and sure a business may not survive but how much more value was added in adding infrastructure to access those communities possibly providing them much more than was ever lost. How many little towns never affected by a 4 lane highway are ghost towns? Lots, especially on the East Coast. A town like Wentworth besides in the winter isn't worth much and even then its snowfall doesn't amount to much , so please tell me what I don't know.

My initial responses were directed towards just as you have said, the twinning of the TCH through the Rockies, its almost done lol yet you argue it won't/can't happen. Give yourself some credit, you will likely be around to see it completed.

That would provide an alternative route from west of Golden to the Saskatchewan River Crossing but that doesn't seem like a very direct route from or to anyplace I go.

Haha. Says you! Was looking at Google earth and the distance between Lake Louise and Saskatchewan River Crossing is about the same as from LL to Golden. You then would travel about the same distance south to Golden. The route only makes any sort of sense if you were linking up with the David Thompson. I don't go that way unless I am there for scenery as it is still about an hour longer than going through Calgary. It is an alternative though.
