Hey i'm just wondering if anybody would have good info on riding dirtbikes/race quads in the brule lake area hinton?
Just headed out there for my first time in a few weekends and wondering what i would need. I've got my paddle tire ordered
i've rode in the sand quite often. Would a bumper pull trailer be ok to tow out there? Any info would help, thank you in advance!

Bumper pull is fine, lots of random camping, be careful if it's busy , place can be dangerous .

Yup I'd recommend a whip so you're more visible to others. Especially with the abundance of hills all along the side of the lake. We went for our first ride at Brule the day after buying our Commander.

Yes lots of random camping as mentioned. Great area. If you are the front of the pack pay attention.

Was there last year awesome place for sure. One question tho: What's the etiquette when your riding in that tunnel/deep trail with walls on a SxS say going in or out? We made it both ways but she's tight for sure on a bigger machine. The to have met people either way.

Just take it easy. If you go into the dunes from wild horse/kinky lake (if that's what it is been years since I been there) that trail is a lot wider then it is from the over lander lodge side.

Brining up a old thread. Anybody know how the road is right now? I'm talking about the way in just past the weigh scales. Planning on pulling a 30' travel trailer in a little ways. Thanks

The road up to the T is good. There are two nasty mud holes if you go straight, I wouldn't drive a truck through there let alone with a trailer.
If you go left it gets rough and need to go slow and pick your lines. Low plumbing beware

Ok so bringing this up again as I never made it there last year but hoping to make it camping and riding there at some point this year. Has anybody pulled a holiday trailer in this far? It’s about 10kms? Sorry just looking for info as I haven’t been out there in 10 plus years

Yes there is a beauty spot there, when the road T's take a right and a immediate left there is large area. The entrance may be real soft though this time of year beware.
Avoid the areas with a redline you wont get through or back out without a tow or recovery effort, the red spot/circle is getting a little rough take your time pick your angles. May want to scout it first.
The last few years access has been getting real bad.
Usually by Maylong everything is Ok except for the red squiggle on the right, that's a chitshow now. I wouldn't take a truck through there unloaded. We used to come in from the airport side but that terrible now, to many people figured it out- Now almost impassable with truck and trailer.

Just a update, buddy came back from there today. Main road is extremely soft, said he was scraping under carriage in spots due to ruts. His advice dont spin the tires.
He was driving a stock chev 1500 hauling a renegade

Do you know if the road gets maintained at all through out the summer, or are these ruts here to stay for the year?

Well the road was psuedo maintained by the province up to the provincial campground, Wild horse lake.
The campground has lost provincial designation and funding in the new go around of cuts, so hopefully we will be able to use that area for staging now
The rest of the roads CN I believe stewards them for access to the railway by the river for maintenance.
As long as they can get a service truck in, they call er good.. I've never ever seen the likes of a grader or anything like that.

So you think we will be able to ride out from the Wild Horse Lake campground? So sick of how hard it is to just camp and ride my quad.... They love my tax money, but love to make it difficult to enjoy my family pass-time that harms NOBODY.... unlike bike lanes...
