Well's how's this for a piss off......went shopping with wife a week or so ago, seen a bag of dry green pea's in a 450 gram package (1 pound). My pea's look just as good if not better then this package that is selling for $1.89......now let's do some math....1 bushel weigh's approx 60LB's and average yield this year is let's say 55 bus per acre...so 60X55= 3300LB's per acre X $1.89= $6237.00 per acre or just under a million dollars $997,920.00 per quarter section. Now let's see what I get.....55 bus per acre X $5.50 ( if we're lucky) a bushel= $302.50 per acre X 160= $48,400.00. Now you tell me if this suck's or not, out of my take I have to pay all the input cost's to grow the crop, labor and shipping cost's, equipment repairs, and then taxes to boot..... We don't even get 5% of the retail price and we do all the work.

Anyone want to buy some green or yellow pea's....LOL:d:d:d

I hear ya...no justifiable reasoning there...same can be said about poultry, beef or pork...go to a grocery store and do the math...just sickening....but hey....the plastic packaging and the french writing on the bag is worth somthing right??? lol.

Malt barley the same, the cap costs more than the farmer gets for the barley that goes into a bottle of beer.

Finally got all the Canola down, hesitating knocking wheat down with it still raining almost every second day!!
Second cut hay looks good, but its going to be a rain-wrecked as our first crop at this rate!
Hoping for a solid month of good weather so we can get done before the white stuff shows up!!
Great yields so far though!!

Forecast looks good for next 14 days providing it doesn't change. How's everybodys wheat for ergot. I took a small piece off, .044 ergot which from what I hear isnt bad, some guys saying upwards to 2 percent. Always something.

Managed to get 320 acres of canola off last friday and saturday before the rain hit sunday.

I agree to that one!!! You can tell where the green machine started and stopped in the spring!!

you sound like a fantastic Dad there Scotts! I lost my dad in 91 at the age of 59 years....the days of gowing up on the farm and the times we had together are some of my dearest and most memorable....hold your family close and keep farmin Scotts...its what lifes all about ...can ya tell I miss the farm? Sure wished I could have raised my family on the farm....its a very special place where special friendships and life lessons are taught and learned...it don't get any better...now if they only paid our farmers for what they are worth wouldn't that be a bonus eh!?

Typically John deer combine would have to pull there john deer air drill behind in the fall beacuse it throws over enough grain to seed behind:d
