Okay. The concrete develops 70% of its strength in 7 days. How far does a root grow in that time? After 28 days, the concrete has full strength. I don't think the sap is/will be a problem in this case. Look at the second page of pictures; the tree is well outside of the footing and the grade beam and looks in great shape for going through the construction process. The tree roots are naturally looking for water; how much water is there gonna be under the slab? The roots are gonna go down and find the necessary water to grow.

I think you are blowing smoke at an artificial problem, JMHO

Speaking as someone who has been able to put their finger in concrete a WEEK after it was poured because there was a tree root exposing a small area to sap, it CAN be an issue. It is rare but it is not something you want. The root doesn't have to grow, just be cut and sap come out. Roots and concrete do not go well together. And I wouldn't take the chance with ANY root within a couple feet of concrete. A big enough root will move concrete anywhere the root feels like. It's a rare issue, but CAN happen.

dont bother man the great cyle knows all and is a great construction master, if only everyone knew what he did nothing would ever fail, all inspections would end with 100% satisfaction, and landscapers would finish landscaping a yard to perfection even in the piss down rain........but just a question, why did you have to wait 2 weeks before backfilling? your services coming in?

as far as the sap effecting the concrete, any sap would never touch the concrete as it would have to sit before stripping, sit longer before backfill, and would have had to be excavated back far enough to form clearing any contaminated soil...roots can cause issues but very rare you will ever see them damage a footing or foudation....growing under a driveway, sidewalk, ect, i would be a little more cautious

The two week wait was due to me being on vacation and the down pour of rain we had for what seamed like months! I had it rigged up with a sump pump to keep the majority of the water out while I was gone. I even tarped the pad while waiting for the walls and roof on. My pad is hard as a rock now and dry as a bone! We have had so many people quit at work my plan of doing stuff my self is slowly going south...Ive had 4 days off this month and most of those have been switching from days to nights or vise versa!

In my hood you cant drive a 3-1/2 nail in the ground without hitting a root of some sort! My house is over 90 years old so pretty sure my whole house is wrapped with roots, I know my old paper sewer pipe if full of them.

Garage has been slow with work and decided to fix up a couple things on the house while the roofers were here! The whole roof " so it matches" according to the wife! Lol
