Fifth wheel to top of box cleraence..??

How much clearence does everyone like between the bottom of your fifth wheel gooseneck and the top of your truck box...? Is 4.5 inchs to little...............??

6" minimum I would think. If you go up or down any short steep ramp you'll be crushing your box

the more the better. watch your break over angle. like Mattiac said you risk crushing your box as well as your trailer.

Go too high and your trailer wont sit level. You will run the risk of overloading the back axle then.

4 inches is not enought, crushed my duramax two years ago

We go minimum 10" on all our trailers, 12" is better. Still crushed my tailgate in the field last year with a 32' GN with 12" clearance...On road, you dont need much, but as soon as you pull off the road, even in and out of some parking lots, 4" would not be enough.
