Some weather models have systems moving through with lots of moisture, unlike a Pineapple Express with one continuous precip filled system.

Elevation will be a big factor over the next couple of days. With the glass half full attitude, it may turn out good and the Coal Creek parking lot will be full again!

I'm back at work for 2 weeks, which means it will snow a lot for you FS. Me sitting at my desk for 12 hrs a day, 14 days straight is the best snow dance I know.
You're welcome. :)

Wtf does it matter where someone is from, or where they currently live or anything else for that matter?

Why does a postal code of where you reside give you such a sense of entitlement over the next person?

If Coal Creek is so bad and flooded with out of towners, why do you choose to ride there? There are quite a few other areas not accessed from Coal in and around Fernie that offer great terrain and rival that found in many parts of the East Koots. Or are you just not familiar with those areas?

I ride coal creek because friends can get there from there house with out loading up. And yes there is way better places to ride than coal creek around here. I normally go to Harvey but with logging traffic it makes it harder to get people to go there these days. It doesn't matter where you choose to ride or where you come from but why come here over revy if you have a CHOICE. Is all I'm saying. But there going to come no matter what I say. So at least have someone directing parking when its busy thats all.

Revy is twice the drive!! And highway 1 sucks azz. So when Fernie has good snow i prefer to come there. i would come to Harvey with you but I'm from alberta.. I've never ridden back there cause don't know area. Coal creek is easy to navigate and groomed trail.. That's why everyone goes there. Hope it snows there soon so this thread can get back on track!

I haven't even been out this year yet... Only a month left of riding here... Sigh, another one of those years. I worked through my days off last week. No point in taking time off if there's no snow!

Please tell me things in the upper elevations are not all doom and gloom for conditions with the current forecast and rain fall warning. I am there next week end. Didn't I see something about snow drags around there this weekend? Wondering how that will be effected.

Climate change, or just a bad year? :confused:

It's been above zero at 6500 feet for the last 12 hours. Lots of moisture but not sure how much is going to be decent snow.

It rained most of the night in Elkford (4300') and the low temp for the night was +3. Not looking good.......

Here's the Fernie Ski Hill snow report from this morning:
[h=1]New Snow - Measurements taken from snow plot 1645 m / 5397 ft[/h]
[h=2]24h[/h][h=2]48h[/h][h=2]7 Days[/h][h=2]Snow Pack[/h]

[h=2]Year to date[/h]
382 cm
150 in

So without venturing up the hill, it appears that it has rained to at least 5397'. Using the old adage, the temperature drops a degree for every 1000' in elevation, it would have been at zero above Elkford at 7300'.

I think it rained right to the top guys!! I am riding today, so I will report back later this afternoon.

We are riding in Elkford. I have no idea what Coal Creek would be like but my gut feeling is that it rained as high as the two cabins. I may be wrong.

Elkford is not for the feint at heart and when the visibility is poor and you don't know what is above you it can be a little fool hardy. I would ask you to join us but the group is big enough right now. Anymore just makes it a nightmare.

Ride safe guys. Avy conditions are high. Web cam on ski hill at 5500 ft seems to show decent snow. Hopefully above that is good but likely heavy and wet. Look forward to your reports.
