Hope planting goes better today. They got started with the new 90' yesterday at noon and only got 3 acres in. Thats right 3 acres in 8 hours. Fans didnt work, vaccum didnt work on part of the planter, seed sensors, swath control, and herbicide rate controller giving us fits. Good thing its early, im sure we will get it. I will get a picture of it in action once we get it rolling and post it here sometime.

Thats what we upgraded from but planting 200 acres a row was wearin the ol girl out. Plus it was like playin with a bomb when mother nature entured the equation.

I see a globe on top of that tractor. Do you still use the markers?

First day jitters. The way stuff was goin who knew what was goin to hell next. They were autosteering but just wanted assurance everything was working good. Once we get goin we will only use the markers on the ends rows and along one side to get the A -B line set.

What are the Canadarms on each end of the dealy?

Those are markers. Extend one or the other other out, and when on the next pass, instead of always looking over your shoulder, you just follow the line that the marker makes.

Markers, they unfolds and leave a mark in the center of the next pass. Then when you turn around just put the center of the hood on the mark. Thats how they kept straight rows before autosteer.

Think this will pull the 60' drill?

Did you test drive it? Neighbour up the road had one like it but smaller and everytime he turned a corner the tractor would lose traction as the outside track is the only one pulling hard. Traded it back in on a 4 wheel drive. They are outstanding for row crop where you are lifting the implement out of the ground at the end of the field though.

We tested one out a couple years ago. One big reason we went with tracks is so that we could still have the PTO for the grain cart.

When we seed, we do the headlands, (2 rounds) and run back and forth after that.

I test drove a 20 series track machine last year, and yes the JD had problems with the 30' wishick disc. Supposidly fixed in the 30 series machines. My Cat is older and has the same problem, you have to know how to drive them; however the new series Cat work better.
