Groomer isn't driving up in a truck...cat is at bottomWas it the groomer driving up to the groomer?
No...4 trucks with decks to unload and ride. tearing up the snow that is on top of the ice. Would be funny if the groomer went up and plowed them in.

that is true, the snow cat is at the bottom, the drag is at 3 k . Plenty of snow to ride from bottom. No need to drive trucks up. They did not idle .up with chains. Dug ruts six inches deep all the way up. I agree with Fernie snows assessment of the individuals. They are trying to preservethebottom section sotheycan use the drag.If the groomer is parked at that bottom, then that is a dick move. If the groomer is parked at the 2km pull out, then I don’t see a problem with a truck and deck, with chains from there. You can pretty well idle up in 4 low with chains and it doesn’t really do any damage to the trail.
Isn’t that the unwritten rule? Don’t drive up past the groomer? If the groomer is at the bottom then stage from there? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
What are you gaining by driving 2 whole kilometres? This literally takes 2-3 minutes to cover on a sled even in the worst conditions. Putting on chains, and idling up in 4 low cant honestly be of any benefit. If the groomer is parked at that bottom, then that is a dick move. Imho if there’s usable snow from the main lot, just unload and ride up from there.

Last year was a 1 in 10 year snowfall, this year the area is 4 feet shy of seasonal. I don’t enjoy riding ice and gravel, especially with a 3” track. For the 5 minutes it takes to chain up, I’ll drive up every time as long as the groomer is parked up top. I didn’t see snow levels in the parking lot in this situation, so I can’t comment on that. Of the 3 trips I’ve made to Sicamous this season, I’ve driven up all 3 times because the snow wasn’t that great. Maybe it’s changed.
The parking lot is white and had a fresh snowfall on it yesterday. Not to hard to figure out. It has changed. The day you guys rode the old iron we rode from bottom with 3 inchtracks no issue.

I wonder if there is some certain sort of rider having difficulty on the icy lower portion..... Wait I know!
Never mind hahaha
Not a problem at all, just a preference. If the very nice lady I get my trail pass from tells me I can go up with chains, I’m going. If not, I’ll unload at the bottom . Hate to say it, but it’s that simple lol.
Anyway, glad the snow has improved down low. Sorry some phuckhead couldn’t use common sense and trenched the first couple KM.
I was talking about snowbikers....
This. for what's considered a more beginner mountain area it sucks when a new rider can barely make it up the trail to 2.5km because it's so icy. I have heard they are trying to expand the parking at 2.5km to address this issue so that would sure be nice.As for another thing, Owls Head is imo one of the worst staging gong show i have ever staged at. That trail can get brutally ICY for the first few k's.
Yes I'm sure it's the slowbikers that think there God, and rules don't apply
