It is my understanding that when they purchase a wetland, they set the tone for "in perpetuity" or in lay man's terms, forever. They have very strict usage rules and DU owns the piece forever. Another similar situation to the Nature Conservacy of Canada/
yup, my grandfather sold the family ranch in chezacut bc to du , pretty much a area closed for every thing, our family can still go and visit but just a day trip .no public access ,no hunting etc , .

Strange, they have events with nice stuff for sale and auction. All the people at these events are hunters, fisherman, quadders and sledders. They auction off nice rifles and have silent auctions for rifles and hunting and outdoor stuff. All the peeps there are avid duck hunters. So they put aside some properties so ducks can harvest then they sit and wait other areas and shoot them. Sounds strange but it’s real I guess

Ron, their goal is to conserve. Y2Y goal is to conserve. I’ve never understood why hunters would spend good money at these functions when DU is against hunting on “their” lands. People, you are funding this but yet fighting to stop closures.

At least Alberta fish and game you can hunt in the land.

Ducks unlimited is just a black hole for
public lands.

100% agree this is why we all need to make sure the company’s that we buy from support beliefs that we live daily.

I identify as water fowl neutral.

Ya and another thing, they walk funny,,,,how can one identify if these ducks are "under the influence" ?
In all reality I find ducks somewhat bothersome to the point of "shady"... I'll be keeping my eye on them...perhaps we all should maintain some semblance of vigilance....

So what did you find out, Ron?

So far...
Ducks drink....a lot..
Ducks moon people..
Ducks identify as a visible minority (that's a particularly tough one given their numbers)
Their "close cousins" at first impression also seem to get liquered and moon people as well...
If one questions their ideologies and motives you are outed as a "Duckaphobe"

As more information comes available I'm sure this list will grow....

Yup, Ducks Unlimited is an American non-profit organization that was founded in 1937 with their head office in Tennessee. There goal is for the preservation of waterfowl so they can have birds available for hunting, thus they need to preserve the Canadian wetlands for nesting for future bird hunts south of the border. Google is an amazing tool.

Good research. I’m looking into this as well. They are on the partners list with y2y. Not financial supporters. They both are for convervation of the environment. DU gets small areas of wetlands and concerves them, they were discussing that they even do small areas such as 1 acre and work up from there, not huge areas though. They are for the conservation of wetlands to preserve the ducks. They are all hunters, anglers, they ride at atv’s and snowmobiles. Pembina pipelines has donated a large sum of money to them to preserve areas just recently. It always is an enjoyable event which several of my friends attend, one of them runs the Sherwood park division. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, atv user and the guy that introduced me to mountain snowmobiling in the beginning. I wasn’t going to bring this up at the event and it is best that I just let it go and enjoy the evening. As knowing what I know now I most likely won’t be supporting them in the future with being partners with Y2Y. This is the same thing that many of you know that MEC is a supporter of Y2y and several of the banks and other institutions. Many peeps have supported these and other things, but once realized have stopped.

In regards to Pembina ? They would have had to donate just like anyone that causes lose to a wet land .
The wet land is classed from 1-3 and a dollar value is put on it pending classification.
The amount then is paid to DU or another institution that rehabilitates wetlands .
Been this way for a few years now . Even the construction of Anthony hen-day Hwy required this .
Just FYI
