After having one sled run away on me I never start mine without the tether hooked up. Nothing makes you feel more helpless than standing where your sled was as it takes off.

I ride with a teth air and love it you have all the freedom and if set right it shuts off if you get to the back of your sled.

Wear a tether.

here is a MotorFist rider showing how to destroy his new MotorFist Trophy jacket and almost killing himself. He was VERY lucky to survive. We are getting him a new jacket because we felt so sorry for this cat.

I watched this video back in April, I sent it to friend back then that never attaches his tether. After watching this he does now. Haha

Any problems with it cutting out when you don't want it to?

never had an issue with it shutting down when riding unless your dragging off the sled which a cable one would do the same. I like that I have some movement around the sled to pull the skiis around if stuck on the hill with out the sled shutting down, incase we have a run away or slab breaks away. yet if the sled flips or your fob cant see the antenna its shut down time. Wife Xp gets one this winter also, maybe even the elan

I like the idea of the tethair but would it work in the situation that's on the video? Cause to me it looks like it wouldn't cause he's never that far from the sled.

I think that u have a better chance of knocking the cord off in the video than the wireless one.

That's a 50-50 on if it would have shut off.

I have ridden enough sleds with the teth air to say it works well.

Just like a regular connected tether, it isn't going to be perfect in every situation. I don't mind wearing a tether so I personally don't have a teth air but they are excellent for people who don't want to always have something clipped to them.

For simple shut off you just cover your wrist and the sled shuts off, you can set the distance fairly well and get off and walk around the sled when needed.

If that particular arm with the tether on it was sucked into the track it might not help you. But there is no guaranty that a regular one will either.

I have used my tethair for 4 seasons now. Never failed me yet and it has saved the sled a few times, well worth the investment in my opinion. I had it on my m8 and now my pro. You can adjusted the shutdown distance by adjusting the amount of antenna that's exposed. Got mine set perfectly!

I ran a 13 pro last year with no tether, this year I'm going to a 14 and maybe turbo, I like climbing. So my question is do you ride with a tether and why? Also what kind are you running
Do you drive with a seat belt?

I'm about 60% with a seat belt, and feel naked without a tether or backpack. Backpack is another thread..... LOL

My tether started to randomly shut the sled down, guess buying the generic e-bay part was a bad idea, gonna have to buck up for the factory part, don't like to ride with out it!

There is a reason tethers are required in RMSHA racing. Watched an open class mod take off into the forest one time.....Seen way too many sleds take off without a rider on them.

I've seen more ghostriding sleds that were saved because of a tether than I have seen guys saved by them from being sucked up in the tunnel. I've had run aways and seen riderless sleds hit trees so hard they bent the rails into "S" shapes. Insurance figured a buddies sled was going over 100 mph. Best investment you can make for a sled, should be mandatory on all sleds IMO.
