May long weekend...........

Gas 122.9
Diesel 110.9

Jasper to Edmonton towing 28 foot trailer, 110 km/hr in a head wind, on one tank of diesel.

Priceless.

did the exact trip this weekend as well love my diesel...(except for def fluid) can be pain the ass...didn't even kick down on obed summit gas jobber was screaming last year!!!!

So I guess what everyone is saying is that Rowdy should buy a diesel....then a 28 foot trailer to justify having it....

she wants a daily driver for a short commute that will be used to haul sleds on the weekends....and everyone says "buy a diesel"

Diesel is great for the purpose intended but I don't think she would benefit from the diesel....

But what the fawk do I know....

.. Not everyone is saying as you have just said. Rowdy also has asked of the positives & negatives to each, complete with weekly trips to the mountains hauling 2 sleds. It appears she is doing alot of driving with a loaded unit. In that respect Rowdy has a choice form the replies of which she was inquiring. I have been running coal for near 20 years. I do know if your treat them well they will return the favor !

But what the fawk do I know....

My last two trucks were 6l gas GMC's and they work just fine. All I doo is haul a couple of sleds in the winter. As I said earlier, the big initial cost is hard to justify and particularly when I have only put 120,000 on an 08.

So it is all what a person wants to spend on what!

We put our deck on 2500 GM 6 liter which was a poor choice, like others stated. Brutal gas mileage & screaming under power in the hills. The new truck 2500 Dodge diesel, no comparison to the gas job. Mileage is great & you have passing gear power. Thumbs up for the diesel

If your hauling heavy and long distances the deisel is nice, but IMO for 2 sled's on weekends trips and a travel trailer camping trip, again on weekends. Save your self the $$$ and go GAS. It will do anything the deisel will but at a much lesser initial cost. Unless your planning on holding on to the truck for the next 10yrs the fuel advantage isn't worth it. BTW parts for deisels are RETARDED, something to think about.
I run a deisel and its not because i haul sled's, sled's are very light and will not be an issue with any 3/4-1ton truck, gas or deisel. Try pulling a big boat on BC roads that weigh's in around 10'000lbs, that will test any truck. I laugh at dude's that talk about their deisel hauler's and all they realy do is haul sled's......deisel truck have become more of a "look at me, i drive a deisel", that most likely never been worked and is used more as a car. Your choice your money, just my 2cents.

I was looking diesel or gas myself not long ago. Leaving an 09 5.4 ford with 190km on it. Dealer talked me into a egoboost. Fuel mt comparable to the diesel I test drove never got to load the diesel when we had for the test drive few days
Got the ecoboost Hooked on to my 33' holiday trailer holy fawk makes the 5.4 look like a dead horse lol. Pulling the trailer at 120 km getting 24l/100 km with a light headwind and no lack of power whatsoever. Will see what the longevity of it ends up being though. i'm not trying to stir chit or start a pissing match as I have never driven one and have nothing to go on. BUT you are the only person I have seen so far that is happy with an eco boost. I know of 3 people in the trades that bought one and 2 went back to the dealership to trade in on a 5.4, and the 3rd went to dodge. I have been looking closely at 1/2 tons as i'm going to be in the market for a weekender/trailer hauler, and after the things I have heard I have just about written the eco boost right off of the list. steering more towards a dodge

I love mine. 3 others in the parking lot at work and their owners feel the same. I share magnet's opinion on towing. Pull my 27' enclosed easily.

I had no idea I was spelling diesel wrong...........& I forgot to mention how often I pull the boat / 37' trailer & haul the sleds, sure is nice to have the deisel power though, cheirs

I think everybody gets them thinking get are going to get the unbelievable 30 mpg they advertise then dump them because they don't.
No bs empty 15l/100km average.if I drive nice Edmonton and back I get it to 12.3
Loaded and pulling mid 20s but the first time I did get it to 21 but that was driving like 90.
So my three complaints are. Not do great empty economy, sounds like a car and no way to get around that no matter what you do it will always sound like a ricer, and no posi trac in 2wd as it has the electric locker in it. No cool burnouts to be done. :(.
If you want to test drive pulling a load pm me and we can set something up and take my trailer for a rip.
oh and forgot the small fuel tank sucks. Only 80 ltr or so always seem to be filling up

would a tank out of a non eco boost fit in the eco boost?

I didn't expect Prius mileage either. The small tank is my only complaint, and that issue was addressed after 2011. That, and feeling my manhood slip away when I'm parked next to my buddies idling diesel.... but i get over it.
