LOL And what smoke filled room did the teeter-totter rear suspension come from??? "Here you go kiddies we just got high in the park and thought this would work for our flat assed handling chassis... Oh ya and we put the skis right next to each other because it handles like crap! But lets not change the chassis there is no issue there!" LMAO

Good fun! Ride what you like and have localish support for.

Say what you want........it works. Great rebound by Doo to address the growing emergence and popularity of the Pro.IMO.

as for the steering its brutal on the poo and that even comes from buddies that switched to the xm this year after i let them ride it last spring.

That's a bold statement, as I'm sure there are riders out there that can do everything you can do and more on a Pro.

I would love for someone to explain why the steering is so bad on the Polaris vs the Ski-Doo, please. I don't understand what is so bad about the steering on the Polaris. Why don't you guys like it. I've only ridden an XP for about 5 minutes, and it was on my 2nd day out mountain riding. Maybe I should get on one again to see the difference, but what is so great about it?

I remember for the longest time dan rode doo but it seemed liked he liked the sled, dont get me wrong polaris would be my second choice but doo is the way to go, my 2013 aerocharged 174' track goes like snot and i would never switch to polaris because im stuck on doo! CHEERS!

There is nothing wrong with the pro steering. Similar to the cats. Youll find way more people than the doo crowd will allow u to believe actually find the xp steering awkward. Thats why they changed the steering angle on the xm to be more vertical like the cat and polaris. Aaand thats why alotta boondockers on the xp run the c3 post forward kit

Maybe Dan just likes to switch things up every once and awhile? He mastered the the XP and probably the xm too so why not try a pro? I know I like to switch my sled up every couple of years. It might have nothing to do about money or anything, it might be about change!

I know there is nothing wrong with the steering on the Pro. I was genuinely looking for input from the BRP crowd as to why they don't like it, compared to the Doo. From what I understand BRP went with the over the top post so they could share parts with their other sleds, saving money. The more horizontal post works really well on trail sleds when you are leaning to the inside on corners, but when counter steering will actually pull you the wrong way. I was wondering what they did with the XM as well. I was just looking for some reasons backing their love of that steering.

there is a fundamental issue with the arctic cat and polaris steering system. it is NOT a good mountain setup and it is even a poor trail setup.

you say when you counter steer it pulls you the wrong way? perhaps it feels wrong because that is all you have spent time on.

nest time your on the mountain point your sled down a relatively steep hill. then turn it sideways so it is not on edge but flat on the hill. now counter steer and try to pull the sled up on edge.

VERY VERY HARD. why? because your body is WAAAY to far forward trying to reach the opposite side of the bars. VERY inefficient use of body movement. with a skidoo type steering setup when you crank the bars the one side dips and the other side raises. now that you have a raised oposing side handlebar it allows you to get your body into a better position to make the transition to sidehill. you can argue all you want but you are almost falling off the other side of the sled trying to do this on a flat steering machine. not to mention trying to turnaround quickly on even a relatively flat surface you have the handlebars in your gut? wtf is that about? again you cant get your body off the sled enough to make a quick turn as your leaning way to far to the other side to keep your hand on the furthest bar. now speaking about technical lines through the trees and whatnot moving side to side. you WILL be turning just as you do on a trail and hoping side to side and using your body to make the maneuvers. when you want to go left you turn the bars to the left going uphhill and the furthest bar pulls you back over the sled?

terrible design. wait until the footage comes out from rasmussen this season. he will be a superior rider to even his past years with a proper mountain steering system.

boondocking carving side to side is no problem on these flat steering sleds as all your doing is moving your body side to side. theres MANY times during the schooled videos you can see burandt struggling with that steering system. laugh all you want but watch carefully. yes pro riders can make it work obviously they do and will continue too. and yes guys will say its terrible but once your used to it you quiclly realize its the best system for technical riding.

i will try and draw a pretty picture one day because its very hard to explain LOL

Thanks Maxwell. I think I understand what you are getting at. I'll give it a shot next time I'm out, and try my buddy's XP.

The first thing he did is change that steering to vertical same as the POL so what on earth are you going on about? NOTHING you said makes any sense to me because when I try to ride a doo I feel nothing like my body is in a good position for ANYTHING......EVER, I can pull my sled over on a sidehill with ZERO effort at all. Doo took that steering off the watercraft and that's where it should have stayed period. Riding a doo to me feels like I am fighting a dead horse, a big fat dead horse. Why do you think they had to put a tilty suspension and a flex edge track on that thing........ because it handled like a stone glued to the ground. But hey that's just my opinion :)

Changed what steering? You can adjust your riser and steering post as much as you want but it's not flat steering. Perhaps we are talking about different things. Skidoo bars will always dip no matter the riser or post position

He changed the steering post POSITION to make it a more VERTICAL setup like the POL and CAT, not the handle bar position the steering post itself and from his input doo will do the same from the factory......maybe not next year but next new chassis I will put money on it.

It's not vertical at all. It has a riser positioned flat and further back from the post. Anyone can do that.

I run a post forward kit and then run a 2" riser because running a tall riser pushes you off the sled in off camber situations. All he has done is move himself back 2".

The post is still the same. Not everyone is going to like a setup like Brett has on the XM. Keep in mind his height. I live watching guys with their ape hanger 11" risers trying to ride technical terrain. Sure some guys can do it, but it could be done with a lot less effort.

A Poo vs Doo thread once again...if someone likes to ride a Pro, go for it. They do some things better than a Doo. For people who prefer the Doo and like the changes or what Poo riders call gimmicks so be it, the changes work and they make the sled rideable with less effort.

Some guys can jump on anything and ride it well. Some are better off sticking to the meadows.
