I understand ur frustrations and agree with you to some point. Yes they should have discretion and they can use it. But ask yourself how your attitude was towards them.......if you're ignorant do you really think they're gonna give you a break or should???? What would you do if someone was ignorant to you at work????

It's your decision to wear your seatbelt, speed, blow thru a stop sign, drive your half ton when your overweight........you know its all illegal so why b*tch about it when you get caught????

They probly have been to an accident where someone was hurt or worse someone was killed because of speeding, no seatbelt, etc. Pretty sure if your family member was hurt or killed cause of some other dumba** on the road you'd be complaining that the cops dont do enuf enforcement.

I say this cause I think its chit that people complain about the job they do and yes I have a family member who is a cop. They dont get any credit when they do a good job but get bashed a lot by people who dont have a clue what they have to deal with. Ya they go for coffee........most every other person who has a job will take a coffee break you just dont see them cause they dont wear uniforms and drive police cars. Maybe someone should complain about every other job where people stop for coffee.

When you pick up a gun and a radio and chase after someone who just stabbed someone else, check the pulse of a kid who was just hit by some driver who blew through a stop sign and find that the kid is dead, go to a domestic at the same house with the same drunks for the 3rd day in a row or listen to people swearing and yelling at you all day for doing your job maybe then you'll know what they go through for their entire career.

Back to the original post........you know they're out there checking people so why not prepare yourself and your vehicle so you dont get any tickets.

Like said before, I dont want any enemies especially those that are sledders.......but you have your opinions and these are mine.

Stay safe everyone......on the road and on the hill.

I think if you actually took the time to speak to a police officer and asked him/her their opinion on what you have descibed , you would find most of them could give a rats chit about the topics you have outlined , the fact of the matter is they have a job they have been hired to do , and if your breaking the rules, it is what it is ..........If you think it's a personal attack every time you are issued a ticket , then your taking things WAY to personal!! Just my TWO cents ....

I'm okay with paying for my "breaking of the rules" I just wish the priority was on "real" crime. I think cops are under paid/under manned and the only way they can make budget is to cash grab the minor infractions. It doesn't pay to catch real bad guys.

Just my two cents:beer:

I got to say that by the sounds of your description there were alot more then just being over weight. I would be that if over weight was the only think they may have been a litttle easier or him. But by the sounds of it there were many things that he did wrong and I think the cops were teaching him a lesson. I have to agree don't hate the player hate the game.

To follow up with the last comment...

Especially since we have all been asking for more enforcement on stolen sleds and trailers etc. If they are out doing what we ask them to do, checking sleds, and you know that they are going to be doing this. So why would we all not be prepared and have everything legit so that the cops can get back to "catching real criminals"

As far as the cops themselves go, ya some of them are azzholes on a power trip and won't give breaks.. I know a few local ones that are exactly like that.. But I have also dealt with others that are normal people a deal with things accordingly, and will be respectful and understanding, and give a break where deserved.

Ha ha ha had to stop in the middle of the street in an industrail park yesterday to wait for a police cruiser that was doing dounts in the intersection. First one way then the other then he ran out of room and had to back up then he pinned it down the street fish tailing all the while the two officers in the cruiser had the biggest smiles on there face. I just patiently waited and laughed. Sometimes you just got to have fun at work!! :d

Can't hate the cops for handing out dicky little tickets. Our government at both provincial and municipal levels keep cutting their budgets. Like any business they need to find other ways to generate income. I'm sure they too would like to spend more time catching real bad guys, but those guys don't pay for the work the cops have to do. Really wan't the cops to back off the general public and focus on hard core crime, get on the a$$ of your local politicians. Any socio economic expert will tell you.....more cops=less crime. Don't break the law and you won't have to pay, and if yu are breaking the law and puting the life of my family and friends at risk, then more power to the cops.

Just my opinion.

Love these threads.....starts off with someone got a ticket for overloaded sleds on a deck (a lesson) and turns to cop bashing.

Would you still laugh at them if they ticket you for stunting for doing the exact same thing? I would of got a car number and strung them up! Their suppost to be setting an example for society, dont get me wrong I know they want to have fun like everyone else but when you have that much authority go somewhere descret and do out of the public eye unless it was an accident.

They preach about distracted drivers on cell phones yet I dont think I've seen use a blue tooth yet, their always driving around with the damn phone stuck to their ear.

If you drive around with a laptop open or some sort of video screen in view of the driver its a huge ticket, yet they drive around with laptops open and type while driving. Hypocritical and double standard as far as I'm concerned.

Dont get me wrong, I totally respect what they do and have to put with as its a thankless job. BUt they should be held accountable to the same levels they hold us!

yes because hey the cops are exempt from rules like this as well as rules like: daytime running lights, proper driving lights, and in bc they are allowed to leave the vehicle running were citizens are not! and yes they can be on there laptop cause its required for there job that is absolute BS if we cant talk on our phones, leave our vehicles running, not have daytime running, and not have driving lights then fawk them neither can they just because they have a badge and a gun they think they are king tuts of the world!

But for the deck side of things we all know it is illegal to run the deck on a half ton i dont see a big problem as long as you have proper tires and airbags I feel no big issue especially on chevs considering gm uses the same factory front end componets on 1500 and 2500 so really no difference except frame! The cops should really start screwing off with all there stupid tickets for to much weight or having more than 4 feet of track sticking out. lets worry about the stolen sleds, and meth labs, and drunk drivers instead of oh my god his truck might be 200 pounds over weight better get him he is the offender of the world!

Holy fawk. I can't believe how whiney people are towards the cops. People bitch about them having their laptops open when you can't, they talk on their cell phones and you can't, they don't have running lights and you have to....it's called "tools of the trade". Different trades require different tools. There's a big difference between a cop touring down the road (who's extensively trained in defensve and offensive driving) with a computer beside him, and some yahoo fighting with his old lady on the cell phone. If you want to be let off without a ticket...DON'T BREAK THE FAWKING LAW!!! If you throw 2000lbs on the back of a 1/2 ton, open your wallet, if you think you're cool by tinting your side windows, same thing...prepare to pay for it. Doing 140k in an 80k zone, you deserve what you have coming. Time to grow up and stop blaming Johnny Law for doing their job.

i have a good friend who was a gravel road cop in small town alberta. He called himself a garbage man as well. He told me - nobody who is winning ever ends up speaking with the cops.

tough job to do. I know I wouldn't do it.

I got pulled over by the same dot in Salmon Arm the other day. These guys are really something. I'm driving my 3/4 ton duramax stock height, with 33in. mud tires. So he walks around my pickup and informed me my tires are illegal! I politely inform him I am aware of the limits on how far they are aloud to stick out past the flares and my fronts are only a inch out. After realizing he couldn't ding me on that he craws under my front end to check tie rod end wear. He comes out and informs me my tie rod is worn out. I tell him I will certainly check it out but they were replaced a couple of k. ago. Got a warning for that. Then he dings me for a winshield, six inch crack near the bottom. Couldn't argue that one. Then he dings me for no mudflaps.... this is a stock height GMC 3/4 ton.. So while the RCMP was writing me up I was pointing out to him all the illegal pickups driving by with no mud flaps. He was smiling all the time. Then he looks in the pickup box and sees all the garbage bags of beer cans that I was so looking forward to cashing in and making some real money for a change. He jokes and says now You get to spend all that hard eared money on a windshield and mud flaps.. I could of gone away mad, but what's the point.

I respect regular cops for doing what they do...but I gotta say that these DOT guys in BC are just there to uphold the BC policy: Bring Cash.
