yes you are right but you dont have to take 1200 out of a guys pocket to prove a point, rules are there for a reason but some police are not reasonable, when it comes down to it,power trip

i hear ya there, i got a seatbelt ticket a couple weeks ago (dont get me started on those) and i asked the cop if i could get a warning or something and this old bastage says " i never give warnings!" i ask why? and he replies like only the law would " because people dont heed them!" DOUCHE

oh i know you have to take into account passengers and gear.....was just saying half ton doesnt always mean 1000lb pay load as people always think......i may be wrong but wasnt for advertising an f150 with 2100lb pay load.

i'm one of the ones who cant say much about the heavy hauling with a 1/2 ton, used to haul an 8' truck camper with mine.....

I thought seatbelt laws have been around for quite a few years. What more of a warning do you need.

No. Not a cop and no relatives that are. Just saying why hate a guy for doing his job. I am sure you have a job and you probably do it well. Do you think people should criticize you for that.

theres always times where discretion can be used and this guy flat out wont consider anything of the sort so ya i will criticize him. Its not like he pulled me over for speeding or no insurance, taillight out, swerving erratically drunk through a school yard. i was putting around with no fawkin belt on and thats what he spots to jack me for a buck sixty? My thought process just dont work like guys like that. lol ill stop ranting now

lol. I can see it is a sore subject for you. I am not a fan of cops either but I can't get mad at a guy for doing his job. ok. I'm done, nobody needs to make enemies out there, especially fellow sledders.

I removed my box and made a 200 pound deck! I also had load E tires, and was under my GVW when I had my 1500 last year! I double checked weight and was legal! just saying that steel deck is a total no brainer on a 1500

This is overkill's favorite topic... Honestly, he could go on for days.

I guess my problem is I think the cops job is to catch bad guys not generate income by handing out minor tickets. I've been ripped off so many times only to have the cops do nothing. Favorite cop quote when my garage was broken into and I thought they would do somekind of investigation was "this isn't CSI" That made me feel so much better:rant: But I'm sure my tinted windows is is worth putting me on the most wanted list.

I hate tickets, but I really hate photo radar tickets. I hate inflexable people (like cops that don't give breaks). The seatbelt thing though, I don't know. At the risk of jacking up some people who seem to really care about it (obviously more than I do), why should my health-care dollars be spent on your injuries when you didn't wear your seatbelt. I don't care if you want to hurt yourself, but when you are a veggie and my dollars get wasted feeding you through a tube, I think I would wish some cop would have educated you about wearing your seatbelt.

Since some of my buddies are fire guys, I am going to hijack this thread for them.

Why don't people get mad at firefighters when something burns down?

"Where were the hose monkeys when we needed them? If only they would have checked those fire alarms, they could have prevented this. If only they got there sooner, there would be more than a basment left. If the fire marshall would have stopped them builders from using them flammable materials, instead of handing out colouring books to milfs, things would be different. Why couldn't they interupt their floor hockey game/bbq/etc..."

There. Now the cops won't feel so special. ;)

Ive got to respectfully disagree with u mr morgan on the tax dollars issue, there could be a huge spectrum of things that could be thrown into that category ie fat people that eat nothin but shyt, when they get heart attacks and their body breaks down we pay, ticket the mofos the next time they have mickey d's and the dub in the same day. Or smokers, theres a good one to go on. Sounds kinda silly dont it.

Now i do neither, theyre wasting my tax money right? Do u think if they were ticketed theyd stop? Cause a cop ticketing me for a seatbelt violation hasnt changed me not wearin one. Ill decide when i wear my belt, not a ticket.

Fair enough. I have seen many a cop that should stay out of micky d's as well, so I guess we can't get them to enforce that. Good point on the food and smokes thing.

I don't complain. If Alberta Healthcare started charging extra for fat smokers, then they would likely charge more to cover sledders, motorcycle riders, etc., as they are more likely to cost health dollars than an accountant that plays warcraft and never leaves the house. It all evens out I guess. I do think it sucks that cops get sent out to lay cheesy tickets. Their unofficial, (and never admitted to), quotas are a farce. I said that to a traffic cop in Edmonton and his reply was, "more people are killed from speed related deaths than any other type of homicide in Edmonton."

Okay, if that's true, I'll give them the speeding and careless driving tickets, but most of the others are cheesy. I think you get a better message out by giving a break than by giving a ticket. If the cop said, "I'm giving you a break and saving you __dollars, please slow down and ask your buddies to do the same in this area please", I would be more likely to actually listen.

That reminds me, I should start a thread to find out which radar detector is the best.

^^^^^ no doubt i completely agree. Used to have a cobra in the srt8 and it saved me a few bucks and a whistler on the ninja and that definately saved me some demerits back in the day.
