Yup New Denver to Kaslo is a must, one of my favorite spots is the fancy hotel deck overlooking the bay in Kaslo. Great food and if your there Saturday they have a free mini music festival in the little park beside the hotel all summer.

I'm headed to Tuktoyaktuk in the morning on the Africa Twin. Leaving at 6am, first night will be at the Liard hot springs. Then Whitehorse, then onto the Dempster. You can check out the MapShare page and follow along if so inclined.

Do lots of scanning (binoculars would be great) on Eagle Plains and you may find some bears/caribou.
I did that drive twice and it was awesome both times. I taught at Arctic Red River (Tsiigehtchic) for a year before going to Sachs Harbour for two years.

I like the windshield extension. Where did you find this?

Suspension is inadequate out of the box if you weigh more than 160 lbs. Fuel tank is on the small side (14L), not the best range for this kind of stuff. Other than that, they are typical Yamaha excellence in quality and reliability. It's a killer machine, great bike.

I have to change my assessment on the fuel mileage thing, today he ran it 370 kms from the start of the Dempster to Eagle Plains on a tank. Fully loaded, average speed around 75 km/hr. Impressive for sure, seems like it it hard on fuel on the highway but wicked when going somewhat slower.
