Snow better but trees still blocking trails. Skyline blocked Oyster?Excursion blocked and snowfill needed in a few washouts. Packing trails today and tommorow to build a base for the snowcat to come out and play.

Help us out riders. Buy raffle tickets buy a trailpass. We need the money to maintain those trails.

Go to www.calgarysnowmobileclub.net go to join and fill out membership info

Raffle tickets available from club members and The Accessories Shop in High River.

We have a workday coming up on Saturday November 25 to remove more trees. Show up at 930 at the groomer shack area at Cataract Creek staging area. We will head out from there. Trail is packed to try to cover the rocks. Thanks all

Glen and another club member are out there today working, and myself and another member were out there yesterday. Only bad news was the wind, that rocked/tipped the truck & camper with trailer in tow we took out their yesterday. I don’t want to repeat that anytime soon!
We started our day on a couple of prep items on the groomer, then loaded up the sleds to go pack snow. We went from the Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails trailhead at the Cataract parking lot straight west to the end of the trail, and “the loop”. From the SLS Lost Creek Road/Cataract Bridge to the very back, we packed the snow, and there is really good early season slow from the centre to west border of the system. We packed the Cataract Loop Trail with four passes with a roller and drag pan, and the lower Cataract Creek Trail with two passes. Good timed!
The best news is that is started to snow hard as we left the trail and drove away home. I hope Glen has another great report tonight!

First off I would like to say thanks for all of you who regularly ride this area early for supporting the rules and not riding before December 1. I'm feeling a bit guilty because I get to ride on these trails doing pre season maintenance and pre pack the trails. The trails are doing good but like always trails from the staging area's still have their hazards but they are getting better.
Trees down still in the South/West corner blocking the trails. These are huge trees that are hard to move out of the way. Very labour intensive for small group of dedicated volunteers we have another weekend clearing trees before the opening of Dec 1st. Someore signage needs to be done and we need to be carefull out there when it opens.
The area has snow and December 1st coming fast.

Thanks again for being patent and waiting.
To give you a idea of snow last night. I got stuck on a slight incile today pulling the packer. Was a great day

What are the chances all this rain we had in southern Alberta has compromised the snow out in Cat Creek?

With the amount of snow out there right now, I expect very little, as there is really good early season snow - by Cataract standards. If anything, it has caused the fluffy, sugary snow to density up and settle, creating a great base to start the season. Saturday’s work crews will have a report come Sunday night here, if not before.

No work crews out on Friday, that I know of. A few of us are camping in the maintenance yard, and no communication back to the outside world except for SPOT until people return on Saturday night, I believe.

Sorry, I guess I misinterpreting this message. I thought you meant someone was going to zip up the mountain today (Friday) to see if the snow is still intact for Saturday's cleanup. I now realize you meant the snow report will be the end result of the weekend.

There will be two of us present tomorrow for trail cleanup. CatRutt and myself

Thanks for all the helpers who came out to help. I wish i could of been there. Seems Saturday night and today it decided to rain and take away a lot of the snow down in the lower valley to access the area now. The trees have been cleared the snowcat is ready to go and we lose the snow. Lets all dance for some more valley snow to fall.

Thanks for all the helpers

Is there enough snow left to ride this weekend?

From what I heard today I would be waiting. Ice from staging areas until you get further back. If I could guess I would start from Etherington Staging area rather than Cataract Creek.
Good luck let us know

Not from the trailhead/parking lots. Not enough snow on Sunday to even run our club’s 550 fan SWT Skandic. Unless you are okay running your carbides down significantly on the dirt and rocks that the rain has now exposed, I would not recommend going to the Cataract Trails now. If a dump comes by Saturday AM, fill your boots - but it needs to be a big dump to restock the valley bottom trails.
