So alot of people online are saying it can't be done because of emissions and reliability.

I think the reliability argument is out the window now with how well the aftermarket kits are running. Especially if they dial down the compression and make them pump gas turbos.

As for the emissions, the factory suitcase is more for noise emissions, correct?

What's the major hurdle here?

I don't even need a 240 kit or anything crazy like that, would just be nice to keep the current stock power at altitude, or maybe a little more.

Doo could of done it a few years back already but there to spineless to take a chance.. Now looking back at all the aftermarket guys that made a killing off them they even look more foolish.. Power to cat.. Let's hope it happens

Agreed, but Doo really didn't have a reason to do it.

Polaris was having a tough time keeping an engine together until the 800 HO and Cat just wasn't very interesting until 2018.

So not much incentive.

Doo even put the wheels in motion filling for patents on the XM for a turbo.

But I think they decided to hold off to purpose build an engine to take boost.

If it wasn't for these belt issue I am sure they would have done it already, but a turbo definetly isn't gonna make less heat in the clutch bay.

But now Textron has something to prove and Cat has a pile of R&D that they just couldn't fund before.

Interesting times ahead.

You can see how close spineless BRP was.. They easily could of came in the 12-15 era with a nice low boost kit, charged a nice premium, aero had released a turbo in 11 and had most bugs out of it.. Could you see how much farther ahead they would be today.. But not.. they took the back seat and let everybody get a piece of the cake

why I say so often that brp needs a mountain devision with riders and testers, new products out west.. We could easily still be riding the 800cc under boost from factory and loving life with a few changes done.. Making a nice reliable 200hp every day..instead we have the 850 belt eating oil consuming mtfk :d:d
