Beware of Great West Chrysler

Bought a 2015 Ram 5500 in April of this year from Great west, without getting into any of the chit of the actual purchase, I found out last week that the truck was originally bought by Calmont leasing back in 2014 as a order of 30 some trucks and cancelled. How did I find this out? Because the warranty on the truck started in december of 2014, not in april of 2017 when I bought it brand new with 24 km on it, with new manufacture warranty clearly on the bill of sale. Surprise surprise great west tells me they told me, and they have paperwork saying so (but somehow cannot find it). They are refusing to do anything about it, they are upset because I did not return their 2 mudflaps and 2 2x4s they put on the truck, so they won't even look at the issue until I do. Apparently i'm lucky they didn't call the cops on me for not returning their property

Chrysler says they can't do anything, they were suppose to talk to the dealer but they don't get back to me, another dealer who gave me more information on it says only great west can do it. It's as simple as them telling chrysler to change the date, if they want to.....

Anyhow, because of how they are handling it i'm just going to sue the fawkers for selling me a used truck/not full warranty, i'm not going to let them get away with this crap. I will never step foot in the dealership again, been going there for service for the last 10 years but not going to support such a crooked dealership, even by dealership standards. So be forewarned if you have any desire to ever deal with them, run far far away. Before the warranty issue it was hands down the worst buying experience ever between them lying, rude, etc etc. But this takes it to a whole new level of shadiness.

Have you gotten hold of AMVIC to tell your story? Friends that have had legit issues with a dealer have gotten results from not much more than an email and simple phone conversation

Go ahead, say all you want as long as you add "in my opinion"......you are allowed to have an opinion.....its almost impossible to sue someone if they have an opinion on something. Start making claims as "facts", you are opening yourself up to a lawsuit.

That and also add "I believe" because we have a freedom of belief in our Constitution. You can't be sued for having a belief. I believe that Dodge dealership is a place full.of liars and scammers. Haha

I've learned from the past BBB is completely useless. They have absolutely no power, and as long as you pay to be a premium member, bad reviews go away. I had considered AMVIC, and i'm sure with some hassle I could get it fixed that route, but i'm thinking why? Why not make them pay thousands in legal fees and ontop of it get something for my hassle? I called and spoke to the person right under the GM and gave them the chance to fix it, they declined and told me to take whatever resolution I wanted. I'm in no rush to get this fixed, but I do want to teach them a lesson and make them pay.

Oh yes I left them a review on dealerrater, but nothing i'm worried about there. As said it's merely your opinion on the experience.

If your case is found to be something AMVIC looks at pursuing, they can easily charge the dealership more than your get out of a law suit, and you'll likely not be doing it on your dime/time.

Reading your post again.....I am trying to clarify your claim....
If Calmont ordered trucks and then cancelled the order and GWC took over that order, then they are still selling you a new truck. Unless I am reading your story wrong, the only thing, in my opinion, that you can go after them with is the warranty start date. If you have a document showing the warranty start date, then you may have something. If all you have is a statement of the warranty coverage of new vehicles, then you really don't have much to go on. Does your bill of sale list when the warranty starts or expires?

Unless other brands do it differently there is no warranty start date on the bill of sale because with new it's always starting then. The part about it being used is the fact that calmont bought it from great west, starting the warranty, so while they never been took delivery they did start warranty making it a used truck in some ways.

My shop is an Amvic member, and you do need to contact them.... they will handle this case for you, and if you have all your substantiation, Amvic is the way to go....

Unfortunately I tried AMVIC, they said if it's a decision of the dealer they can get involved, but if it's determined to be a manufacture decision they cannot get involved. So there is a chance they can take care of it, but not for sure.

Of course. I don't care if I post price, I know I got it for a steal, but doesn't change anything as far as trying to screw me on the warranty. Actually paid less then the number on bill of sale

When i bought my 2012 ram 3500 i purchased in jun of 13 but the dealership i purchased it from got it from dealer auction so warranty started on that day. they had only purchased it in jan of 13 so not a big deal but they were unable to sell it as a new vehicle even tho it had 25 km on it, said used vehicle on the bill of sale but they were up front and told me the situation. Kicker was i bought it in alberta but still had to get sask safety with 250km on the truck when i got it home what a cash grab

Yea it's different if they are up front. I was never told a word, clearly marked new on bill of sale, I even told them unless it was much cheaper I was buying a 17, their reply was "it's only model years different, same warranty". I even got emails of the salesman saying that.

Warranty typically start from date of purchase, they sold it to you as a new vehicle so looks like BS they are trying to feed you. Not sure why Amvic would not be all over that. If you can control your legal expenses good chance you get a settlement.

AMVIC said it's up to their power, as they have no control over Chrysler, only the dealer. If they look into it and find out it's Chrysler's call, they cannot do anything. From my information the dealership tells Chrysler to change the date of warranty start, but ultimately the decision is Chrysler's. It only costs me $250 to file lawsuit in court of queen's bench (small claims is waste of time for suing someone like them IMO) unless it had to go to a trial (honestly doubt they are willing to spend $10k+ in legal fees to fight it), I am confident in doing it myself. Little cost and time for me, to cause them a lot of hassle and money if they don't have the sense to settle right away.

Honestly it's not even all about the money. A lot of it is to put them smug SOB's in their place, and make it clear they can't push everyone around and lie through their teeth and get away with it.

exactly if bill of sale says new warranty should start on that date, other wise like my situation it was a used vehicle

It says that the warranty is measured from "20 km" but they wrote in 24 km. That seems strange.......If that vehicle is noted somewhere in their books or Chryslers warranty database to have 20 km in December of 2014....you may be out of luck.
