Looking at a new boat. I found what I like but it has a American turbine pump on it. I haven't had much to do with any boat but have heard mixed reviews about these. Anyone have on hand knowledge of these?
You likely have the SD309. Great pump. All the go fast boats use them. It's a pressure pump versu a Hamilton that is a volume pump. Outlaw in Red Deer has all the parts and are great for giving advice. The AT website has a ton of down loadable manuals and diagrams. If you are new to jet boats check out the mean chicken forum. Tons of stuff there. Below are some links.

Welcome To American Turbine
Its a nice pump, its basicaly a modified version of the sd312. AT came up with it to compete with the Hamilton 212, similar in design axial design (hamilton style)instead of mixflow (berkley style).Thanks. The one I'm looking at is a sd203 rock crusher. With a 350.
What kind of boat is it?
Very nice, 350 coupled to a sd309?I bought a used 20ft nahanni. Good so far just doing a few minor changes.
Heres a question... I have a325hp-350/ AT312... I feel the impeller inside the inspection hole and its a bit banged up from gravel(aluminum). I can get about 38.5mph at 4000rpm out of it at the lake( heavy-its got the frame top, wake tower, kicker, seats, wife n 3 young kids).
Which impeller is it? How bad is the rock damage? Sometimes they can be filed down.
8 3/4 inch bowl bolts, and a 9-16 wrench will pop the bowl off. On my boat, impeller wear happens more on the shoulder (the part that rides on the wear ring). That can really effect performance. Pictures would help a ton!
I run a '98 eagle 19' Alberta Special with a 4.3 (getting swapped asap for a 383), Berkeley, and run faster than that on the river with a custom B- impeller.
For the OP, GREAT choice in a boat! If you ever make it to PR, shoot me a pm. I'll be at all the races wrenching for the white and blue "Easily Influenced" CX boat.
I think you'll gain more longevity than anything going to stainless. I run aluminum because I'm cheap Haha.
