No point, our govts will find a way to fawk it up and even if they do finally build it some dead beats will grab their feathers and lay on the tracks.

unfortunately it wont get built. We have proven with the TMX that in this day and age we are NOT capable of constructing nation building mega projects. This is another project that is proposed to be built with private funds ( same as tmx) and will end up Government or indigenously owned 150% over budget 15 year Debacle before it even breaks ground.

This might be genius though...these boys proposing it might double their money and wash their hands of it before a shovel hits the ground.

Alaska supports it, Alberta supports it, But it must cross through "Canada Lands" (yukon/nwt) so you KNOW Trudy will have his hands all over this.

looks like its heading right to McMurray, Build a Refinery there to load up the cars and ship it out of Alaskan ports. Could work

That what I was thinking. This is a money making scheme. These guys have no plans of ever building a railroad.

$22B for a railway to move WCS to an Alaskan port makes no sense when crude by rail shipments have been declining for years. Investors won't pony up those bucks for anything with Canada involved, there are greener pastures all over the planet that would welcome that money with open arms instead of red tape and offer better returns and less risk. Thanks federal Liberals.

It'll never happen. It's been talked about for years, the construction challenges are immense, arguably on the same level of difficulty as the Chinese-Tibetan rail line. Not to mention the economics of it, other than oil what would be shipped on it?

This of course ignores the political climate in Canada, I reckon this rail line would be approved about the same time the last drop of oil is pulled from the ground in Alberta.

You’re all being a little shortsighted.....the reason the Americans are bringing this up isn’t to service Alberta industry, it’s to create a rail link between the American heartland and Alaska....right now shipping costs to Alaska are huge....freight moves up on ship from Washington state to Alaska, and weather often disrupts the schedule....the Americans are looking at opening up ANWR and having a rail link would greatly reduce the costs of that and provide a Secure secondary reliable link for oil and other resources to get Back and forth from the lower 48....In an ideal world someone from Alberta will feed the idea of Alberta being the 51st state to the new trump administration in the new year and we will all be the better when it happens....

If we had dip chit politicians / protestors / natives in the late 1800s like we do now Canada would never have happened, as the Trans Canada railway wouldn’t have happened.

If it never hit the news it might have had a chance. I've seen it plastered all over though. It will now die off during regulatory and environmental studies.
