Hey prove to me Bombardier has never had a government cash injection.

Bet you can't.

An I am not talking BRP.
Ok you made me go back and reread your post. I think you can take it either way the way you worded it so I'll cut you some slack and give you the benefit but I don't want anymore of that crazy talk trying to draw BRP into government funding. Lol

I'm really surprised that the handgaurds and remote limiter strap aren't just options, little disappointed about that, the colors aren't the greatest either. And the new spindles and skis are useless if you put different skis on it anyway.

If dealerships would take back the 146 track and rails and give a credit on a 3" 154 and rails. That would be the way I go. Especially since I've got aftermarket shocks, skis and bar set up already. Plus you could get all black. Only thing you'd be missing is the running boards. But I dont think dealerships take back the 146 rails and track.
This is an interesting post. I have never heard anyone wish there were less options on a sled. It is much easier to complain on why they didn't just include this or that? I'm not sure what to make of your second paragraph? There is no 146 track and rails on the expert? There is a 154 track and rails with a 146 tunnel? Why change the ski's if the new setup is the answer to the sled washing out on a sidehill? Can you explain your reasoning?

Unless you have spent an entire day in good snow I believe it’s pretty hard to give an accurate assessment of how that machine performs. A 20 minute rip is not a ride. Sorry. First impressions are lasting and what time I’ve spent on a doo 850 I can tell you it is not hard to side hill guys.
If you guys tell me too ---- Off that's okay. You all forgot about the bikes. They REALLY sidehill. Carry on with the discussion gentlemen.

Cause lots of us hate the ds3 t3 - g4 3 inch skis

Mine are just about skegless Racing material, and are going to get skidded for some grippers

Well first off I don't really want to pay for options I have no use for. The adjustable limiter is just another part that can break that I wouldn't use, and hand guards I just don't need. The pre filter kit is something that should be installed factory becasue it works all the time, adjustable limiter is only good if you use it.

As for the second half. The only thing really about the expert that appeals to me is the shorter tunnel, and maybe the new running boards, as is the case with I believe a lot of people. I run after market shocks anyway so I could care less about the kashima coated, i also hate the ds3 ski as tex mentioned. All the new spindle and stopper does is make it ride like a gripper or c&a ski does. Most of us run cfr bars and riser anyway. So really, I could buy a 146 sp and put a 154 track under it and get the color I want without having to pay for options I wouldnt use or would just replace anyway. But of course that only makes sense on a cost stand point if the dealer buys back the old track and rails.

Key point to note is that I buy a set of shocks, skis, bars and riser and setup, and rail brace and keep them till they come out with a new chassis, break, or cant be used on a new sled. That way I can put the stock back on and sell the sled and keep my aftermarket stuff.

But anyway this is all pointless because I doubt a dealer is gonna buy back a track and rails and it would cost way to much to do this other wise hahaha

No I didn't think they would. Only option is to take off what you don't like and sell private.

Its kinda early to determine is the accessories are worth it or not. The only ones I see, I would not use is the hand guards and the limiter strap adjuster.
At the end of the day the expert is a new sled with new suspension calibration with lots if useable extras. From what I see, doo built a sled that I already built this year minus the tunnel and the boards, Without riding one, so far it looks like I would not have to do very much to the sled.

This reminds me of the 3” track days until the T3 came out.

I don't know if I would need/use the adjustable limiter strap in our eastern Boots snow conditions. I do use hand guards on those cold days and I like/use the removable tail flap everyday of riding. The existing boards are not a problem for me but hey, maybe the completion will get their act together and everybody will have better boards.

Might be a nice feature(s) if the price of the Expert is reasonably price and not way our to lunch. I supposed we won't know about pricing/building for awhile down the road. It is nice to dream/wish about a new ride for next year once again.

Anyone else feel they could have come up with a better name than "expert", I mean all this money and all these people, and that's what you came up with?

From the way Norona talked at Club the 154 with the 3 inch track will come over backwards on the steep stuff a lot easier with out the tunnel to dig in and stop it. He actually warned about it happening as he had experienced this or saw it by his account. The limiter adjuster may be nicer than one thinks for the really steep stuff. Carl was the one that wanted the handguards. He feels with handguards you won't need to run handwarmers and your gloves won't get wet and iced up giving you a better grip on the bars. I remember him talking about that when riding with him one time. They are easy to pitch if you don't like them

I actually like it only for the fact maybe I can talk some fence sitters into buying one? Who doesn't think they are an expert so shouldn't they be riding one? Lol! It was probably named that because of all the input Ski-Doo's backcountry experts put into the make up of the sled.

There are either a significant amount of experts on here or those who think they are. Hmmm.

I know a few guys who like the quick adjuster on the limiter strap. They may not use it every day but as conditions change they easily change their set up.

The price is between the standard Summit and Freeride for the Expert.

The new suspension is %20 stiffer. Hard to say how it performs but people have already written it off by looking at specs and photos. Interesting.

The new spindle set up with ski stop isn’t a new idea. Munster actually makes a ski stop bolt on for the Summits so they have obviously felt it helped.

People talk about paying more for something they don’t want yet it’s not like that over bore motor cost you an extra $3500-4500 vs getting another 50cc from your 800. I have never seen so much complaining about hand guards. The last three new dirt bikes came with little flag style hand guards that I wouldn’t ever use so I replace them. It wasn’t a deal breaker.

I am surprised no one mentioned the torsion springs. Or if they did I missed their post. Anyhow more fresh snow on the ground. Off to ride again.

Great points. I put a lot of stock in guys like Carl Kuster and Rob Alford. They are experts. I feel if they made these changes because they felt it would make the platform better then that is good enough for me. I can't understand how someone can say I only want 2 things from this platform because I have a big cardboard box of aftermarket parts in my garage that I will put on it if I buy one. If they had put Fox floats on it someone would have complained about that to. If they put a Boondocker turbo on it there would be guys complaining it wasn't a Silber. Yep Snow and Mud. Lotsa experts. Lol

And there is always the standard base model Summit they can buy and put all the aftermarket goodies they want on it. But who wants to actually buy a standard model when their buddies have the Expert.
