Well all the new updates on these machines is unbelievable. I was very sceptical about some of the features and how the machine would handle. I rode the 165 yesterday for about 40 min or so In low visibility in varying snow depths from 2-4’. The new track seems to work a little better than the current 3.0 pitch. The power delivery seems the same as the 18’ that I was riding.
I figured that the track being so flexible it would wash out easily. Boy was I wrong. It seems to not only hold a sidehill better it recoverers from a hard carve easier than I thought. The transition from side to side in the tight trees was very nice, even though I thought it would be a fight from being so “tippy”
On the trail it handled really good I heard. It wasn’t tracking all over it seemed to handle the same as a conventional twin rail suspension.
Down hill descents trough tracks it seems to hold straight and not dart when crossing tracks. Like the brp units tend to do.
The new handle bar controls are spot on. Very nice to see a factory tether.
The new skis seem the same other than the grip on the top of the ski.
In my opinion the alpha is a great step up.
