2016 / 2017 Valemount Conditions and Updates

[VARDA]

Merry Christmas from Valemount and a very merry one it will be if this weather pattern keeps up. Over the past week we have seen a nice reload of the alpine areas with a series of storms dropping upwards of 70cms of snow.

We are still facing some issues with access to one of our areas (Allen Creek) due to ice bulges that are as strong as kryptonite, although we had a dedicated crew out recently with chainsaws and mattocks to try to deal with the issue and we hope that we can get a machine up with the rest of them to open up the regular access for the 27th.

We are taking a break from the trail head and groomers for Dec 25/26 although we have tried to leave good trails at Clemina and Chappell for those Christmas and Boxing day riders. The fleet of groomers will be back out in full force on the evening of the 26th for smooth sailing on the 27th and through the holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Valemount Crew. We are forecasted to be getting bits and pieces of snowfall over the next week, which will add to the reload we received before Christmas. We are sending our entire fleet of groomers out today and will be trying to maintain all three areas over the holiday season.

Please read the grooming schedule below as we are experiencing some issues at Allen Creek.

Keep your wits about you and check www.avalanche.ca before your ride. If you do venture out, please report any of your findings to the Mountain Information Network through Avalanche Canada.

Merry Xmas everyone , been in the garage all afternoon evening putting a new head on bobcat and it has dumped about 2 inches here at ground zero .
Cold beer , shower , hot tub then calling it a day .

That was up in lake view... There is a crust any wear from 1/4 inch to 3/4 .. Be safe out there guys
