I think they will win a few over, and would love to test one out but...

I really doubt it would be around 50 pounds.. I would be surprised if it's not closer to 100. Time will tell.

These vids don't show when 6 guys are trying to get a 4 stroke unstuck somewhere...and if you say that you don't get stuck.. well...that's where the adventure ends for some and begins for others.;)

Well the m1100T is 90lbs heavier than n M8. And the Viper is supposed to be 40lbs lighter than a M1100T.

No point as would be bullch!t as every other manufacture.
Peeps would be not taking into account the battery and e start.
Others don't include this.
What's a 163 XM with e start weight?
590 - 600 lb ready to ride?
Bet I am not that far off if a 154 is 560 lb
PS
A 2014 pro 163 cat weighs 558 ready to ride . So take it from there.
A 155 Polaris 2013 ready to ride was 515lb

We will announce a Boost-It Demo day shortly. We will have a 162 Viper with a stockish skid, oem boards, etc. We will also have a couple 174 Vipers, and one of them has a Racers Edge T-Motion and 36 inch front end.
Looks like first weekend of March in Revy and the following weekend in Valemount.

Great. Any pros too, or just the yamahas? Id love to compare the 2 similar machines, see if I should take the 4s plunge.

I kinda think based on numbers the Viper and an e -start doo stock to stock would be pretty close in weight. Question is does the Viper feel as light as the doo and manuevor as easily? This will be the deciding factor for me. FWIW, it sounds like I ride like Dave B a little lol. Too many injuries!!

I wonder which spinny kit that was.
It definitely looks more nimble than a Phaser or Nitro.

I'm betting it's the kit offered from MPI in the snowcheck deal. Doesn't look like much more then that, but pretty cool all the same.

My thought exactly, comparing to a nytro.

You know all this weight speculation could be avoided if yamaha would just advertise it like everyone else.

i think the no weight is because these are still just proto sled so some things may change depending on durability testing.

I completely agree with you that the actual weight of the NEW Viper will be closer to 100Lbs from an XM or Pro. Looking at the specification's sheet's of the Cat version i highly doubt that the Yamaha version will be alot lighter. The only advantage in weight to be had is in the motor and clutch, the rest of the sled is identical. FYI the Cat version with a factory turbo is approx. 570Lbs dry, according to Cat spec. sheet.

I don't agree with you that it takes more guy's to get a 4stroke out of a hole and the adventure ends where other's begin. Most all people that say crap like that is because they have no experience on big iron.
When i get stuck 90% of the time i get unstuck by myself, that is because no one else is around, you learn or you go home.
I've been riding big sled's since they truely started to be introduced in the late 90's, my first being a ThunderCat 1000 with a custom fitted 156x2. Biggest track available at the time. The beast weighed in at about 600Lbs dry.
I also had in the early 2000 a custom Polaris RMK with a 1250 PSI Genesis with a 156x2.25 track, it was no lightweight. In 04 i bought probably the lightest big sled i've ever owned, a 900 Cat M1 titanium with a 159. It was according to Cat 510Lbs.
Traded it for a tanky Doo, RT1000 162, it scaled in at 570Lbs...i actually weighed that one.
Now i'm riding a 4stroke that is actually lighter then some of the 2strokes i've owned in the past. The point is along with these heavy beast i've always owned a more popular lightweight sled at the same time. Example today i also have an M8 with a 163 to ride and i'm looking at picking up a new Pro to replace the old girl.
When push come to shove the bigger iron did a better job, got into places the smaller lighter sled could only do with help of other's(exclueding tight tree's style technical riding). BUT the riding technique and style of the bigger iron is alot different, you either learn to ride them or you will HATE them. That inclued's getting unstuck. I don't remember the last time i actually LIFTED a sled out of a hole....any sled. If your the type that lifts sleds out of holes when stuck, your still in the learning stages of mountian riding.
Ohya, if your lazy and don't like staying fit, ie. hitting the gym, mountian biking, jogging....what ever, these big sleds will play you out quickly and it won't be fun.

I just want a cheap, high horsepower, lightweight machine. Is that really so much to ask?!?!!

150+ HP, <500lb wet weight, and <$13,000

OH and a 5 year warranty!

It's sadly just one of these things where I can only pick two of the options. :(

Yeah I am curious to see where these things weigh out. I am interested, but they have to get somewhat close to the two strokes. Be very interested to hear an apples to apples weight from someone like NM on a yammi vs a pro with the same trimmings. Also curious to see how many "cheap pounds" are available to be lost on the yammie.

I read in the snowmobile chat article that it's expected to be 600 ready to ride with MPI turbo. That's 35lbs lighter than 1100T and 25 lbs heavier than M8 with turbo and electric start. XM is the heaviest 2 stroke, so even closer.
I think they've done great for weight
