I don't understand the hate towards yamaha, if you don't like them...don't buy one.... All of us love to snowmobile and all the negative talk towards all the brands gets old....do I pick who I ride with by brand...no...I don't care what the people I ride with have, as long as I don't have to tow it out all is good...every sled has can be difficult to ride for some individuals and that is decided by the riders skill level, not the weight of the sled...and guys, quit trying to dead lift sleds, your going to hurt your back.

I have picked who I ride with by brand

Last year with the po po drive shafts

No clamp, no ride with this guy - group

Few buddy's didn't think it was a big deal, but turned out to be a big deal

And would have wrecked the hole groups weekend, because of being stubborn

It's different if ya smash a rock or hit a tree ect...

sent while I should be drinking tea's

Carrying your sled much? So when did 450-475 lbs become light? (current 800 weights)..... The Viper is 40 lbs lighter than a Nytro........its getting close to 2 stroke weights folks. Hate all you want.....can't deny 4 Stroke reliability, torque, 30 bucks worth of oil for the entire year, $100 dive belts,(1per year) and decent boost package for $2500.

Safe sledding

No doubt. Those are pretty wicked sleds to watch when its a rider that can actually HANDLE them... Ples nobody can deny... theres nothing worse than sitting at a hill you and your buddys are trying to dominate one day... then you hear "PHHSSTTT PHHSSSTTT" in the distance and its like.... "alright guys next hill" lol

I agree completely with those of you who are saying 4 strokes are heavy, can't ride em in the trees, yadda yada yada. I don't care who you are, you're lying straight thru your teeth if you can say you have no issues riding your heavy nytro or apex thru the trees or in technical terrain, or you just haven't sucked up your pride enough to jump on a 2 stroke. My riding buddy got the boosted nytro itch a few years back, built a 30+ thousand dollar sled, and just kept dumping money into it. "Oh these a arms makes a huge difference in handling" yet he still avoided trees and mostly just sat and watched us play in those conditions. He bought a pro this year and holy fawk what a difference. He's like a chubbier Chris burandt all of a sudden and he's actually able to enjoy riding again. The nytro has only left the trailer once all year and is now for sale. I will admit, the power and torque is addicting, I loved it. But all I could do with it was point and shoot. Felt like it had the predictability and turning radius of the titanic, you have to plan a turn a mile away.

But with that said... We're not talking about nytros and apex' are we?! I think having this engine in a more rideable chassis, being even lighter then the nytro at it's best, I think yamaha has taken a huge step in the right direction. I think a lot of guys are gonna be very surprised as to what these things will do. I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the boost it viper videos. I ride a proclimb chasis, and I love it. I can only imagine how the yammy guys will feel compared to the boat anchors they were riding previous to this...

Just my .03$ worth.

Tell that to Jorgenson and Chris Brown... I rode through some pretty tight trees with Chris last year, and he can make that sled dance.
I hopped on a stock Nytro last year, and took it in the trees. They weren't super tight trees, and I had my issues at first, but quickly got a handle on it, and the stock skis are complete crap. I'm really interested in trying out the Viper. It's tough to argue with the reliability and peace of mind of riding a Yammy.

Yeah sure, I agree but I was referring more to the average rider, which most all of us here are, even tho A lot of guys on here think they're pros but they're not. I just don't understand the need to ride a heavy pos that wears you out and again, for the average rider, ya can't even take into some areas and have fun mainly cuz of the handling issues they have. Almost every one of the guys on here would make themselves wayyyy better riders by just switching to a two stroke. Sure ya don't have the power, but you'd have more fun. Unless your the die hard chute climbers I guess. I guess it's all about reliability factor and the need for big power. Myself, I'll keep enjoying my cat and pro..

But not to get off topic...

Again, I believe the new vipers will be a huge step for Yamaha, and I'd love to try one. I have high expectations of this sled, knowing how awesome the cat chassis is, I'm sure that paired with the most reliable engine on the market today will make for some fun times!

I have talked to some guys that have this years viper that they long tracked and turbo'd. They also own pro rmks and they said in the new viper chasis they are easy to ride and they were not any more tired at the end of the day ridin there viper than they were with the pro's. Have to keep in mind we aren't comparing nytros anymore. The viper acuatlly seems to work better than the M100turbo from what im told because of the size of the yammy motor they are able to get it farther back and lower in the chasis than with the cat motor.

I'm a Yammy guy from way back, but I had to look elsewhere when they went down the 4 stroke road. I might get 9 days of riding in a year if I'm lucky and can't spend 20 grand on a sled to make it handle like it should and keep up with everyone else. I'm not a good enough rider to make it work. This Cat chassis is a step in the right direction, but it's going to take something fairly drastic to get me off my Pro. That sled completely changed the way I ride.

Like I said, I wish I could still be on a Yamaha, but they made me look elsewhere and it's going to be pretty tough to get me back.

I'll never understand people that get hung up or a hard on, on a sled weight.
I guess there is alot of people wanting to lift, benchpress or maybe store their sled off the cieling is all i can think of, haha.
Personally i like to RIDE the sled not lift it. Handling, power and durability are my main concern in a sled, not weight. But i guess if your ball's never dropped, shave once a week and you spend too much time geeking on the net you need a light weight sled for them pencil arms or cosmetic steriod muscle.

Honnestly, i don't remember last time i ever lifted a stuck sled out. Plus with these extra long track's....163+, the sleds anchor in, weight has little to do with the dificulty of getting out. Its all about knowing how to get out.

BTW, not saying i would not be interested in knowing, but it ain't going to deter me from buying a sled that meets my criteria.

I agree, it doesn't matter what 162 you ride, dig it in and your not lifting it out

How many of you 2 stroke riders have spent a weekend on a boosted 4 stroke? I have two 2013 Proclimbs - one is an 800, the other an M1100T (same chassis as the new Viper). They both have their respective places in the mountains - the 800 is lighter & therefore better in the trees. Both have proven reliable - still on factory belt (and the 1100 has a EVO Big Chute 275 kit on it). I find myself riding the 1100 more simply because of the giggle factor when the turbo spools up (yes, even in the trees, although it is more of a workout). It wasn't long ago that a Summit or Powder Special was near the weight of the new 4 strokes, and I rode them with shorter tracks back then. The mountain sleds today are leaps and bounds ahead of what we rode 10 years ago, and any current model 4-stroke is capable. - you just have to be a rider. Just don't try to ride it like a 2 stroke - the powerband is completely different, and you'll find you have to think and react farther ahead on the heavier machine. I actually don't get stuck as often riding 4S turbo,as the power delivery is more forgiving...
