500HP................pretty soon there won't be a hill big enough that it won't climb unless it's covered in rocks, not to mention that someone completely new to the sport with a pocket full of cash will now be able to go down to his/ her local dealer and buy such an animal to become a statistic on. Look at the Thunderstruck 10 trailer, it's amazing what they are climbing currently.220-280hp is plenty to still get a rush on and have good reliable fun IMO. I'll ride my stocker til BRP comes out with an affordable comparable.:d

Ya but you're a really big deal!!!

not quite Maxwell status ,but a big deal nontheless...:eek::eek:

I agree mostly with what your sayin. The thing that i see is if you compare sportbikes to sleds, a guy without a license can walk in and buy one of the new 1000cc sportbikes that do almost 200mph hence why ER nurses usually call bike riders organ donors. It is just starting to translate over to the sled market. That doesn't mean that i agree with it. I beleive that there should be a graduated licenseing system for bikes, maybe sleds in the future aswell. Because yes you put a newby on a big power sled and they could easily become a statistic.

Since I built a mcx nitro stage 2. I have always said the mountains aren't big enough anymore. For a challenge we need to add narrow chutes with big cornices to launch over and a 10' parking area. Pretty awesome for those who are power hungry. As far as two much..... Never to much for me There is always a market for the 500 cc class and not everyone needs power like this. This thread is about cat and there new chassis and older tried tested motor anyways. I hope this sled handles and is Flickable. If so then I have 2 nitro turbos for sale.

Sounds like we need a box of tissues handed out to all BRP owners LOL;) Change is good as is new technology. If everything was built equally then there would never be anything to talk about :smiliestirthepot:

has nothing to do with brp.

if we all rode summit 1200 4 strokes at 650lbs and 140hp then cat came out with this turbo 4 stroke at 650 lbs and 175hp THEN you would see some crying brp owners

this sled is in a class of its own. i guess it would be the pump gas 4 stroke turbo turd tank class.

anyone comparing this sled to a summit/pro/m8 is way off track. 2 completely different styles of riding and 2 totally different sleds.

OBVIOUSLY this sled with all the tweaks and even stock will blow all the stocker 2 strokes out of the water....in a straight up climb. after all thats what were all after right

500hp...sign me up... nattt

next season will be interesting. there will be alot more high powered 4 strokes and people attempting to pilot them. always good entertainment

Didnt the insurance companies put a cap on street bikes and there potential about 10 years ago or something?? or was it just a rumor i heard? Beacuase of what you where saying anyone could buy a bike and ride the hell outta of it with no skills

ditto.... but most people dont even mod there own sled. I think there are going to be some disappointed customers for ppl who dont mod this thing. Its somewhat far to say comparing a 2stroke to 4 stroke, you need roughly an extra 30hp to make up the weight diffrence...

As well, why are you spending 16500 for a sled and then another 2k roughly to get a programmer, can, and inter cooler kit for a 220hp sled??? cause we all know we ride the same sled for 9years or more right??

Entertainment... i think not, just another thing to give the sport a bad name, hell its the good riders that usually wind up pullin out the rookies:rolleyes:

Piggy back controllers are gonna be pushed aside soon as the next gen standalone stuff hits the market with the new 4 strokes.

There are a couple more companies releasing thier standalone snowmobile systems this summer. Check thier 1100Pro #s, stock at 243hp. I've heard similar results from another system builder, who's $1600 dollar box will be good to 40lbs boost on a 4 stroke and 20lbs on a 2 stroke.

What they did was put a cap on the manufacturers for speed and such. The first year of the GSXR1000 was crazy fast and then they slowed them down after that. Three years ago there was a guy that i know from edmonton that had never rode a bike street or dirt before and he walked into a dealership and bought a yammy R1. He had no skills nor did he take any riding school stuff just went out and bought a bike that'd do almost 200mph and rode it. Amazingly enough he is still alive today.

It will be impressive if they can make a twin live at 500 hp. Very few of the 3 or 4 cylinder sled make that. Never seen a twin make that kind of hp and live!!!

Gotta love people who dream in the clouds with dyno numbers hey?

Sent from my iPhone slayer.

Yep, have to take one to Neil at Neils Power Pipes and let him dyno it. People sure are quiet when there watching the dyno run and its 25 - 35% less than they were told.

With the current displacement and a high octane fuel I figure you would need 38lbs of boost to reach 500 HP.

second dumbest post of the year goes too....

speak for yourselves not our problem your buddies sleds junk and eats belts. get it fixed and stop whining

Hey Maxwell it is someone who you know and I also herd that the dealer has tried all different helix's etc.... I am not going to post his name and if he wants to then he can. The dealer cant even figure out why his clutches are getting so hot and he can only make 2 passes without having to stop. I am not saying all doo's are like this and hell I was gonna buy one and then i was told to wait from a die hard doo guy.
