got an uncle that works at the plant in valcourt, pretty high up, first designs are about one year before the launch of a new model (XP - 2002), but they change so much from experiences with the current model that they dont even look close to the original drawings, he told me the XP was mostly done except for smoe finishing touches (alot of them) in 2005.

Drawings of body panels dont mean ch!t to me, show me the suspension setup and motors.

Sounds fair! Here! this is what they had in early 2006. like i said its a 6 page article. You can clearly see the start of the rear suspension in september 2006.
By december they had a working model in a clay sculpting booth. All of this was preceded by the purchase of "Vehicle Dynamic Modeling" Software in 2001 that set it all in motion.

ok i havnt read every post but saw allot of Poo bashing!!! Heres the deal, Poo has had that sled in the works since 2001. Pics are in the January Supertrax along with how it came to be. That is before the Rev. In 2004 they actively started work on it. There are pictures of the "blackjack" from back then. So im having a hard time with this XP copy when the 2004 pics looked like an XP!!!!
Maybe the designers were drinkin buddies?????

I know I know you cant believe everything you read, but it is a good 6 page write-up on the sled.

So what. doesnt really do anyone any good till they bring it to the table now does it.

Ya really, so what. If doo works the same way then they were thinking about the rev in what 1997. 4 yrs before polaris. Either way, even if they copy somewhat, it's not against the law. I really like the front look or side but not the back. I saw some out in Sask. and they sucked in the snow(only about 10") but seemed to ride good on the trails. They look better then the new Cat.

LMAO!!! I just wanted to let people know that this isnt an XP knock off.
And since you brought it up in 97 Ski-doo was scrambling trying to produce a cylinder reed engine to go up against the 700 Poo!!!

I don't think the new Poo chassis looks any more like a rev/XP than the IQ they have now. Just more edgy body panels. The XP has a way more forward riding position than the the new or old poo. Not that many similarities.

You guys still bickering over this? WHO cares about what was designed first really. This thread has blown up....

You're right on that turbofreak....but it's just like religion.....everyone is right and argues their OPINION until the very end. I get a good chuckle out of it everytime. Especially the religion thing, since nobody really knows the real truth right....

But hell....the price of a new doo for 11 is stupid. I might even go get myself an M8...and add a supercharger to it.....probably won't be that much more in price really.

Oh......and by the way, I live in Okotoks. But work pretty close to you.

Don't get to pumped doo has never done well with a first year product. Remember 05 1000 Summits, Remember 08 XP drive shafts, electrical hassles hand warmers gauges ect. Now the etec brain is controling the oil mix lets hope it works good or Doo could have to replace a bunch of 800 etecs same as they did with the 1000's. That being said at least they have the resources to handle replacing all the engines they sell it just might take a while kinda like it did with the XP drive shafts:beer::d

i dont think it will have to many issues. but there will be some.

1. 800r is on its 4th year now
2. chassis is on its 4th year now for 2011
3. etec has been around for a while.

that being said there will be some minor issues making it work with the sleds. so far it looks promising. i just dont care for it because i think its going to be a pain to extract additional HP from it. i could care less about fuel and oil milage the competition is going higher faster not who used less fluids. once there is some aftermarket parts and tuners for it i will pick one up forsure.
