New Polaris 800 RMK 155 weight is 431 lbs :d
160 hp and gorgeous. Power to weight ratio anyone. Would love to see Doo advertise this ratio as they used to now.
Chassis technology in this sled is far above anything on the market.
The 800 reliabilty issues are history this year. So....What does Doo have on the Poo. An E tec engine with better fuel economy! Low priority on my list. Performance, reliability, ride and fun factor are my only concerns. If the new Poo proves to be reliable...The clear winner in my books.
I don't think doo really has to worry about performance, reliabilty, or ride. They have it already, so a better engine isn't going to hurt them. Polaris had to start from scratch (*cough* xp ) just to have an apparent winner already. Maybe they will climb now. They do look better now.

So....to get this thread back on track....what I'm reading is you can get the 800 e-tec in the spring orders only. Is this what you guys are getting. The more I think about this, it really is good....better fuel mileage/oil consumption....summerization button.....better throttle response....a little more HP...and still fairly light...not too bad really...oh, except the price. A little bit steep, but hey probably only about $1000 more then what I paid for my limited edition 50th anniversary summit in 09. I wonder when they will come out with a 1200 4 stroke turbo'd right out of the crate? Next year...2 yrs....

My Boss jsut called me from Florida and told me they announced another summit model that keeps the p-tec 800 but comes with more "x"ish suspension for those on a tighter budget who want the upgraded sled but dont want e-tec....

You sure are a positive dude....find the best in everything, and bring out some very important points.
I really couldnt beleive all the criticism, I truly see a lot of positives from the new offered changes, maybe I just havent been around along enough. I spend most of my life around trucks, diesels in particular and man I would be thrilled to see options in a truck like BRP is offering on a sled.
Agree the pricing is high, but in comparison it seems in line...I still like buying used or hold over so I have never been in the boat of owning a spring model but I guess the way I am looking is that I have gotten a good deal on my Everest, I now have the option to sell it for a good price, someone else gets a good deal then I can pony up the difference and go for a spring model, or keep riding the Everest. To me, lots of options and choices.
I see new technology, features that people ask for, and factory equipment that we have had to add at our own expense before, I just cant be critical.
Anyways, the debate is always fun, bashing is unneccessary until there is a perfect sled, and that will NEVER happen...Unless HONDA makes one bwaaaahahaha

@ 6000 ft 155hp sled makes approx 127 hp! equasion is about 3% loss per thousound feet. I think I see a turbo 4 stroke in my future reliability with warrenty and very minimal power loss with alittude

ok i havnt read every post but saw allot of Poo bashing!!! Heres the deal, Poo has had that sled in the works since 2001. Pics are in the January Supertrax along with how it came to be. That is before the Rev. In 2004 they actively started work on it. There are pictures of the "blackjack" from back then. So im having a hard time with this XP copy when the 2004 pics looked like an XP!!!!

ouch dont think so, they came out with the fusion, the IQR, IQ and pro-ride chassis since then.... i'm pretty sure they didn't have it in the works. it's like saying a-c had the trail twin-spar chassis in design since 1999

Almost every sled is in R&D for 10 years before it goes into production. Doo had a working model of the XP by the time the Rev was reslease but you don't here them bragging about it. lol

I'm just saying read it. All the companies have dropped the ball on us in the last few years. Ski-doo isn't flawless.

got an uncle that works at the plant in valcourt, pretty high up, first designs are about one year before the launch of a new model (XP - 2002), but they change so much from experiences with the current model that they dont even look close to the original drawings, he told me the XP was mostly done except for smoe finishing touches (alot of them) in 2005.
