You won't have a problem jumping approaches with a 154". But being a bigger guy I would recommend tunnel and rail stiffeners. Or just buy a freeride and it comes with them and also some chassis reinforcements.

Exactly use all this or free ride and there is no way you will have problems. 154 is still great for jumping. Then when you wanna climb you can. If you hit the mountains you will kick yourself in the ass for not having it. How much snow do you get their?

ive been running a 155 in sask since 08. the length of track is not the issue, you could run a 174....... its the lug height that melts your sliders and gives you high motor temps.

get the 154, you wont regret it out west and it will be a non issue at home, just get some scratchers for when your temps start climbing.

Next door to my neighbor...
154" hands down. I have a 2010 XP 154 and ride mostly Sk with a couple trips per year to the mountains. I went with a shorter track to Revy once, came home and bought the 154 "just incase we come back again this year." I am a big guy as well and have owned a few different sleds, 154" the best by far, you won't regret it.

can you ramp approaches and such on a 154 or will it be hard on the long tunnel? the 146 be better for jumping approaches. i am still on the fence can not decide, the 146 would definitely be better around home i think but when i do make the mountain trips, with my weight and such on the 146 i think I'm going to be wishing i had the longer one. and at home again i would like to be able to hit the odd approach and drifts in fields. what you think?? again sorry for being so indecisive

I've seen guys jump 40' gaps on 174 3"er's on boost lol. 154 is most mountain guys jumping sleds. Watch Cory Davis and Turcotte whip those long tracks right sideways. No one can blame a 154 for not being able to jump.

These are a couple pics of me from the last couple seasons Cat is a 153. polaris is a 155. They can fly!

I have been running my 09 146 for 2 years only in the mountains and it has never failed me. Even in the fresh deep still good. It goes where my buddy's on 154s 155s and 163s go and it still good down here in the lake. No matter what u pick you will be more then happy.

Your buddies obviously are not as good as you then. You should try a 154.

ive rode a 146 in the mountains for 2 years and i feel like i have hit the limits of what this sled can do. To be honest i have gone everywhere my friends on their 163 have gone but at a much higger risk level. With a 146 you have to think different and ride way more aggresive to play with the big boys, but it can be done in 95% of snow conditions.

My next sled will most likely be a 2014 xm 163, i really dont want to find myself wishing i had more track again. That being said im glad i started small, it taught me how to be a better rider, and kept me out of to much trouble in my first couple years of mountain riding.

I never hit a deep day i couldnt enjoy on the 146....

I was, 2 x 153's and 1 x 162" with no problems. Guess it's how you ride.

I didn't see many poeple in the trees were we ride so can't comment on all the stuck sleds.

If you do decide 146 don't feel alone. I ordered 146 x and am doing exactly what you are doing. I do jump quite a bit on our hard sask snow so that's my reason. Can't wait to finally go to the mountains!

I went 146
wont excell in either terrain but will get u where u need to go
best "crossover" length IMO

Also went w the FR so i could beat it up here in SK and not worry about bending sh*t

Like mentioned before jumping with long rails in deep powder is a non issue, the longer the rails and the harder the snow pack well, the more likely you will bend the rails. With either length your probably better off to purchase a second track with either shorter lugs or cut down the lugs for normal riding conditions and then swap in the long lug track for trips to the mountains.

They are going to talk you into whatever they feel will be a harder sell.
