'07 600 ho sdi problem

i was out yesterday and my sled all a sudden lost all power. it sounded really low, almost like a truck or a 4stroke, and it felt like i had something restricting the power.

it happened just after i desended down a trail, stopped in a field (sled still running) and when i went to go again i just had nothing. i could only reach 6k rpm and max speed was around 50km/hr. i started to head out to the truck and it cleared up...

so i turned around to go play some more and then it happened again, only this time it never cleared up.

plugs are both brand new, both cylinders are firing. nothing seems to be blocking the exhaust. intake is sucking air. would it have to do with my rave valves?? i had about 4500km's when i blew my first motor last year (had complete new motor installed), have probably another 1500km since, and i have never done anything to them.

any ideas???

My best guess would be your high pressure fuel pump. I had the 07 1000 renegade SDI and the exact same thing happened. I bet it usually happens for you when your at about half a tank of fuel. And if you fill it up it will run fine again, until you run the fuel low enough again. I had the pump replaced on mine and never had a problem after, of course own an 09 summit now lol.

so i filled up the tank and ran it for about 5min, and it is still running like crap. it may be a bit better, butnot 100% for sure. i'll take it down to the hwy tomorrow and run it a little longer.

but anybody else have any ideas?? how would i know if it had to do with the power valves?

i had a similar problem with my 600 sdi recently. the first time it was idling and then started running rough, i checked the plugs and one was fouled. i put a new one in and then today i had the same problem, a plug fouled on the same cylinder, but this time i just revved through for maybe 10 seconds and it ckeared up. i still have to run it in to my dealer for a check up on some other things and was going to ask them, i'll keep you posted

two bolts for the covers and two allen key bolts and they slide out watch the gaskets........buddy haha and pull um out clean with gas and cloth....i do mine all the time.

i tried taking my rave valves out and cleaning them (thanks carbon for the tips). one was a little more oily and had some build-up on it so i cleaned them and put them back in. sled's still not working right.
off to the shop it goes....

My guess it's the power valves still. Sounds EXACTLY like dirt bikes do when the valves stick open. Not sure if it's a signal to close or open, but try checking the signal as well. Could end up being the CPU or other sensor causing the CPU to not send the signal.

Sounds very similar to a problem a buddy had last year...was his CPU. Had to replace it...$1200ish if I recall right.

are the boots cracket that go from the carbs to the airbox?
take them out stretch and pull see if u have crack might be getting to much air

Sound familiar?

Make sure those valves are CLEAN. The oil is fine, but the residue isn't. I've had my dirt bike stick before and it was very minor build up. Cleaned it very well, re-oiled, and put back together. Ran perfect.

That being said, motorcycles have mechanical actuations. These sleds IIRC have electronic actuation. Therefore this brings in addition things to go wrong. Mainly electronic (CPU), or other electronic sensors. Something tells the CPU to send the signal to the valves.

A quick check is to find a loaner CPU and swap it out. Shouldn't take long and can easily eleminate mechanical vs electronic variables. Find somebody with a SDI 600 that will loan you their computer and take it for a ride. If it's as simple as that, get on the hunt for a wrecked sled being parted out.

so my problem was the oxygen sensor in my can. seemed weird to me as i had one go at at about 4500km, and i've only gone 1500 since, but i got a new one installed and it sounds good again. just need to take it for a rip tomorrow to make sure, but sure is sounding better.
