So last year before my son blew the engine to kindom come in his 06 we were having trouble getting it to hold rpm. I put a different engine in it a week or so ago. Today we took it and ran it up and down a dtich a couple times and it is still pulling down to 7000 rpm. It hits 8000rpm but backs off. Any ideas what it might be. I changed the primary spring and have a secondary on order. Could it be the bushing in the spring cup?

They are set on 2 and we are at about 2200 feet. I should be able to get 8000 out of it here so when we go to the mountains I can put it at 5.

Very possible that the secondary spring is fatigued and the sheave are opening up prematurely - will also not backshift properly / had an 04 that kinda did the same thing _ would hit 8100 on a pull and then drop below 7000rpm - put in a clutch kit - and problem solved!

I replaced almost everything last year except the bushing in the spring cap. I put new rollers and ramps in it already and I tried a different spring yesterday. I will try the bushing and see how that goes. I will also put the secondary spring in when I get it.

this sounds awfully familiar, I had that same problem with my 06 and it went back to the dealership 5 times before they figured out that it wasnt the clutch at all, it turned out to be the tps. I talked to another guy last year down south and it turned out that he had the same issue. give it a try and good luck:)

Hey Sasksumit, if you are talking about the bushing in cup that holds the springs in with the 3 bolts, you will need to buy the hole cup because you cannot change just the bushing. I just did min in 06 mach last week. It was about 70.00 to replace the hole thing. Good luck.
